You can now get ADSL 2+ with Internode using Telstra ports...

Internode product manager Jim Kellett said ADSL TwoPlus provided a greater range of choice for Internode customers because of its much wider availability. "Internode now offers the full range of broadband services throughout Australia," he said.

Home-TwoPlus-2 2Gb $69.95
Home-TwoPlus-10 10gb $79.95
Home-TwoPlus-25 25gb $89.95
Home-TwoPlus-40 40gb $109.95
Home-TwoPlus-55 55gb $129.95

Interesting... more expensive than 8mit ASDL though. Reckon it's worth it?

Sucks being behind a RIM

I've been with internode since '03 and their quality of service is fantastic. I've downgraded the home account from a $110/50gb plan to a $40/5gb plan after moving out and now with iiNet. But never had any major issues or outages.

The plans are really bad, which is expected for Telstra-oriented prices.

Their Optus wholesale Naked prices are much, much better value:

http://www.internode.on.net/residential/internet/home_adsl/naked/pricing/

Example: Home-Naked-40, $89.95, Naked ADSL2+ Speeds, 40 Gbytes

.. no additional line rental costs. I'd definitely forget the Telstra plans if Optus is available.

this is only for people who's only option is to get telstra. Pretty much any other company is better than this.

This is what I meant about prices:

Home ADSL Plus :: Fast ADSL1 Home-Plus-40 $99.95 << what I'm on
Home ADSL TwoPlus :: Home-TwoPlus-40 $109.95 << new and really doesnt give me much more value since 8mbit seems fast enough right now.

Home Extreme ADSL2+ :: Home-Extreme-Boost-40 $74.95 << what I want but can't get

f*** telstra and their s***ty wholesale prices and predatory tactics

well its mainly for people who want better upload....

so provided you have a telstra home phone, here's the competition's pricing

$59.95 600MB
$89.95 BigPond Liberty 12GB
$99.95 BigPond Liberty 25GB
$149.95 60GB

thats if you can ever call bigpond competition

and that includes uploads!!!

well my exchange is planned for extreme so i am just waiting for that... but my company pays for my internet so i have moved up from 8mb to 24mb so i can see what actual speeeds i can get as i am about 3k away from the exchange.... sync around 7000 on the 8mb connection...

also show how much price hike there is from Extreme plans to the using the telstra port..

Read the thread and you will see that this is for plans with people who only have access to telstra dslams.

Which plans/connections though? There are many to consider:

1. iiNet/Internode DSLAM
2. iiNet/Internode Naked
3. TW ADSL2+
4. Optus Naked ADSL2+
5. Regular TW slower ADSL

The list may not be 100% accurate or complete but the main point is: not all offerings are available for both ISPs at all exchanges. Each has its advantages and disadvantages (e.g. iiNet count uploads for Naked, no?).

So it's not a simple matter of which ISP is best for all situations. With one exception being that if you're after stability/reliability then Internode is mostly unchallenged. Otherwise you have to check ISP presence in the exchange and decide what your options are.

For where I want to move: Internode has no direct presence but they offer good plans through Optus, so that's the path I'd like to go down. iiNet as the second choice, as they don't have Steam content servers or as good of a game network, and a few other mirrors (e.g. Sourceforge) that're important to me.

Well dude... for the record, if we compare the 25gb plans where they match up.

Home-TwoPlus-25 25gb $89.95
Telstra 25gb - $99.95... $109.95 (unbundled)

f***en lol!

I'm on a 30GB (no on/off peak) ADSL2+ at around 10Mbps for 60 bucks a month with TPG. Customer service is worse than non-existant but the net itself is fine.

You're referring to plans that require iiNet DSLAMS, which is not available everywhere. If your ISP has presence in the exchange then you wouldn't be going for Telstra (the focus of this thread) or Optus ports now would you? Hence the comparison isn't really worthwhile.

if they don't hurry up and make it available on the Coorparoo exchange, I'm jumping over to TPG

I get the feeling that very few people posting here realise what this announcement is actually about.

you are not being helpful heardy.

They are going to roll out jetpacks to the home here soon. I'm sure you will be back with your rapidly deflating euros when that happens!
