Holy crap, check out the new features:

Team Fortress 2

* The Engineer's teleporters can now be upgraded to level three. It will recharge faster the higher level it is
* The Engineer's dispensers can now be upgraded to level three. It will give out metal and heal faster as it is upgraded
* Spies will be able to recharge their cloaking ability by picking up ammo off of the ground or from health cabinets
* Some changes to the second part of the first stage of Goldrush to give the attackers more of an advantage
* Any weapons that fire bullets (shotguns, sniper's machine gun, heavy's minigun, etc.) can now break apart the Demoman's stickybombs
* The icon on the HUD for a person calling for Medic will now give more information to the medic (if the target is low on health, on fire, etc.)
* Added an achievement tracker that will allow people to choose specific achievements that they are trying to get
* There is now a custom icon for death messages when the player was killed from a critical hit
* Added a new particle effect for when a player enters the water
* Added smoke to the feet of a rocket jumping soldier
* Players will now have some particles swirling around them so other players can see when they are overhealed

My workmates already hate the few of us that play as spies enough as it is =P

And upgraded teles could really help to keep the pressure on.

Wow those changes are quite major.

Too bad most players (including me) have moved onto L4D :P

Last I checked L4D had about 50-100% more active players at any given time.

That sounds pretty awesome. I really need to get my mouse fixed so I can play TF2 without randomly looking at the ground. Time to search for the receipt.

Seeing as this is now a l4d thread check out this majorly lame bug we exploited in versus mode last night. Maybe you already know it.

I call it the 'win strategy'.

So all 4 hide under that ramp and they can only get you from the front... besides tank. Valve have a lot of s*** to fix but I reckon the closet hide tactic really needs to go in versus mode.

Active? You sure they weren't all waiting in lobbies for a dedicated server? =P

But yeah, I've been playing more L4D than anything else lately too. But this has reminded me why I love TF2 so much. Can't wait for lunch time!

Hehe, who uses lobbies anyway. Server-browser + vote campaign restart ftw, considering the high number of available GA/node servers at any one time - not that you can tell because the match-making algorithm never puts you on them even though there are so many free!

I don't how how being a pussy and hiding in some exploitable place is a win? Isn't the point to get to the end of the level?

sweet another much needed demo nerf (even if it is a small one)

edit: khel thats stage 5 of the hospital campaign where you have to fight off waves of zombies waiting for the helicopter.

I actually mainly use regular pipes for my kills so its not really going to affect my play style much.

Engy updates are pretty epic though!


Pyros need a f***ing nerf already... ever since the last flame damage change its far to easy for nubs to just to run around flailing and kill a bunch of people.

Awesome, I've always run to dispensers and ammo boxes when I was out of cloak just from instinct, and it never helped...

* The next class pack will be the Scout. One of the main goals we're focusing on for him has been to provide tools that make him useful in maps like Dustbowl & Goldrush. If you have any ideas for what you think would work well, post them over on the Team Fortress 2 Forum and we'll take a look.
* We are actively working on a massive XBox 360 update, which will include pretty much everything we've shipped on the PC in the last year. We'll provide you with a rough date when we have one.
* We're also working on bringing over a variety of engine improvements from Left 4 Dead into the TF2 engine, but it won't be a wholesale replacement of the engine. This means we'll get some of L4D's performance improvements, like the better multicore support, but not all of them. For example, we can't bring over some improvements without dropping support for DX8, which we're not prepared to do.

That is the end of the level. When you get to the finale of a campaign, you have to survive massive hoards until the rescue vehicle arrives.

Back to TF2, the spy update is crazy. I was able to cloak the whole length of Badwater in one go, though this was made easier by the fact that the server was only half full, so there were plenty of ammo packs.

That is pretty tough. Spies were already pretty easy to rack up high scores. Now it will be super easy to kill someone, pretty much scoop up their weapon and go invis and easily escape only to do it all again. Woooo.

It hasn't really made it any easier to kill people at all, it just gives you more options.

Gives you a way higher chance of surviving and getting through the defense line. Watch for disappearing ammo boxes now I guess!

I shoot you cause I love you.
Also, those guys in the screenshot eventually failed, a tank can smash them through the sides and it takes awhile for them to escape, I'm also infected in that pic.

Weird glitch is that a boomers bile can't get them through the stairs, but his explosion will still cover them.

Pretty useless demo nerf

I am still 99% as lethal with demo as before.

If anything the engy updates have swung in the defenses favour massively with the lvl3 teles and dispensers... cluster a few disps and pretty much have a spawn cabinet out in the field.

Playing with a strong team I found it easier to defend and a s*** team we held back from even capping the first goldrush point twice...
