Found a big IRC network for open source developers, irc.freenode.net

Anyone know a good IRC client for windows? I have downloaded mIRC which is what I used back in my chatroom hey day. But it is a little annoying with Khaled's face appearing twice at the start, and well it seems a little old school.
Is there something new the cool kids are using? I guess I'd like something I could script in some autojoins and auto nickserv identify.

I vote for mirc
Just pay the dude his measly $20 or whatever trivial amount it is, he's been working on it like a trooper since like 1995

Nothing wrong with xircon really although it's abandoned I think, and is a bit sad functionality-wise without addons. I used it for a few years meself

Whaaaa...? People still use IRC?
I let my nick on DALnet expire about a year ago after having had it registered for 10 years, had only been reconnecting for the last few of those to keep it registered.

Mostly stopped using it because there were too many eliist f***wads on what used to be 'good' channels (efnet#bsd, efnet#c, stuff like that).

Well my rediscovered IRC experience is coming to a bitter end I think. I was in a support channel for some software, asked a question, and one of the ops decided to kick me and put the answer as the kick message.
Now I remember why I stopped going on IRC.
