I just had to call HP for a support query on a UPS we've just shipped. This is part of the conversation we had:
Me: Does the HP R/T2200 G2 UPS require a 10amp or 15amp connection from the wall to the UPS? Them: It weights 21.12 kilograms, sir. Whatthef***? |

Did you pay for the premium support or regular support?

HP R/T2200 UPS User Guide
Connecting the UPS to utility power IEC-320-C20 is a 16A connector. Sif call india if you can avoid it. |

Hmm, interesting. When I went looking for the user guide, it told me that it wasn't available.
However, I *did* find out that it has a non-operational ceiling of 15000m /shrug. The funny thing is, when I spoke to a slightly more senior droid at HP, they assured me, repeatedly, that all it needs is a standard 10amp GPO. Guess I'll find out soon enough :) |

Typical big company response - nothing to do with what you asked, clearly indicates they did not bother to read/listen and simply do not care.
There needs to be a way for us to contact potential HP customers to inform them of this. last edited by thermite at 13:50:13 25/Sep/08 |

Gesthemene, if you look at the first few pages of the userguide you will see that the NA unit has a power cord but the international unit has a C20 socket. Thermite, obviously there is a language barrier issue or they misheard the question. I don't think the customer support rep was purposely trying to mislead Gesthemene by stating the weight on the unit. |

It's ridiculous. I work in public sector with about 8000 user's under us and their 'Premium Support' is pretty much an Indian call centre. It's total BS.
Dell however is awesome. No complaints at all aside from the fact they keep sending surveys to ask how well they are performing the job. |

We use to get that BS and just used their web page to log calls instead. Recently we changed how our support was set up and now we have a 1300 number that goes to Australians to log the call. It still then goes to India to be diagnosed but it makes logging the call a lot easier. |
