sounds like saint broke something1@#

I'll bump him to see if he can fix it. In the meantime you might like to try the "ausgamers view" of the forums:

http://www.ausgamers.com/forums/general/index.php

I'm going to do another whole post about this soon once we've cleaned up a few things and its 'finished' (there's a few more bits and pieces to do on it), but its basically the exact same forum content with the AusGamers look'n'feel, plus a few other advantages:

- should be much faster (code is rewritten from scratch)
- you can quote (!) at the click of a button
- subscription should work properly!

We spent quite a lot of time making it sure it was actually something _we_ would also use and not just inflict on people. I've switched to using it exclusively now. If you don't like it, don't worry, the QGL one isn't going anywhere and we'll subscription there.

Its nice, it works better, and it has features that other forums have as well as not requiring me to load a page to reply which is a good thing. Still not the same ... kind of sad to see that teh QGL forum is probably going to fall out of support lifecycle.

Any chance of adding an "append a reply" (maybe just a + button next to post a reply) that appends the quote to the reply box? That way quote monkeys can get it all done in one reply easily ;)

Hmm, I actually though that's what pressing the reply button did - but it doesn't. I can't see any reason why that shouldn't be the default behaviour of the reply button?

Yeh probably - I don''t see a good reason to clobber text that is already in the box?

Phooks is a girly wuss. Change is the new black.

Don't like white backgrounds on forums, too bright for late night trolling, any chance of a qgl colour scheme?

I don't browse qgl much any more but for the 5 minutes or so I am on here I like that it fills my entire screen unlike all the web 2.0 style sites that just have a thin column in the middle that squeezes all the infos in there leaving 2/3rds of my screen unloved.

like this...

Yeh alternate colour schemes are on the todo - I know some people don't like bright backgrounds. l was one of them - for the first few days it bugged the s*** out of me but now i'm completely used to it and don't even notice it.

I don't like the multiple forums of the ausgamers part.

It's easy to see all the threads in qgl.

The 'general chat' forum is the exact same thing as QGL - it has all threads from all forums in it. You don't need to read the sub-forums, they are just for people interested in specific topics, but for the leet people that like a bit of everything you can just read the one forum.

yeh I was worried about this too, coming from a full-width background, but you're right - reading paragraphs that are so wide is as painful if not more so than reading skinny ones.

I think text-wise its actually a good width; the only thing I don't think we've solved nicely though is embedding of images, though youtubes etc is obviously fine.
