My brother just got a panasonic sdrh40 and he has been bugging me to work out how to get the date and timestamp to show over the video after he exports it to his computer.
Basically what happens is the video plays on his camcorder with the timestamp showing, but after exporting to his pc with the included software the video is fine, but no timestamp, he can not see an option to embed it in the software either.

Does anyone know how to do this, my google seems pretty weak, all i have figured out is that other people have had this problem, the timestamp may be embedded in the mpeg2 file that the panasonic software creates, but mpc, wmp etc wont show it.

So if anyone can help me shut this c*** up i'd be greatful.

I know with my TVR-22e (or something) you can't :(

It sucks, I have to add a time stamp when editing. I would have thought it you see the time stamp at the bottom of the screen when recording it you could transfer that when ripping the footage. I was proven wrong

Yeah thats kinda the gist i got from googling about, some cameras embed it in the subs file or something like that, sony's have an option to put the timestamp in a subs file but thats no help with his panasonic.

Mine is a sony and I don't have that option. At least, when I searched for info on it they all pointed to no.

It was easy enough with Movie Maker, although a pain in the arse having to add a new time to every new file/chapter.

Even bigger annoyance now I use linux.

The sony I used 8 years ago transferred it, but the sony I have now it won't. I even found a way to have the timestamp show up but the digital wouldn't capture it. VHS did. BOO

there isn't an option to turn it on in the software on the pc?
