so I go out buy WAR and a game card to give it a try,I get home install it thinking all good but it doesn't seem to load up at all and the desktop shortcut has no icon and, basically a command window opens up for a split second then goes away.

My PC is within the system requirements for the game and all but still doesn't seem to load anything anyone got a solution at all?

Our original post is rapidly disappearing down the page so a quick recap of what to do if your new WAR install is playing up on you. No guarantees but work through this checklist to eliminate some of the most common issues:

warpatch.exe
If warpatch.exe is the only executable (.exe) file in your Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning folder OR clicking it flashes a dos box and then returns to desktop with nothing happened:
1. Back up the warpatch.exe file and put it in a folder elsewhere (not attached to your WAR install).
2. (Unconfirmed) Delete warpatch.bin if it’s in your game directory.
3. Collect a working warpatch.exe file (we’ve had luck so far getting this one to work.
4. Put this file into your Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning folder and run it.
5. If it’s working, it will open up a graphic window and start patching your files.

”Error copying file (x)” error
If your install is stopping halfway through, ensure you aren’t using more than one DVD drive to install the game – use one drive then manually change over disks when prompted.

Unable to register password for Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning
If your Mythic Master Account and WAR game login usernames are the same you *cannot* use the same password.

Game crashes after clicking “Play”
Likely to be a user folder issue:
1. Try downloading this usersettings .zip file.
2. Create a folder named “User” in the WAR directory if none exists.
3. Unzip the usersettings.zip file into the User directory.
4. While people report this solution works, it may need to be repeated when you re-login… until it’s fixed.

’Critical Error Occurred--Warhammer will now terminate’
Your hardware is either being reported as being subpar, or actually is. Check the minimum requirements on the box, upgrade your hardware, or check your drivers are up-to-date.

In General:
- Ensure you’ve got the latest DirectX 9* drivers (seems to be causing some grief)
- Only use one drive to install the disks
- Backup files to an entirely separate directory

If all else fails
Roll the dice and get in line @ Mythic support.

If you find a solution/error not listed above, let us know below so as few punters as possible are not left stranded. We’re still awaiting a response from Electronic Arts Australia addressing the above. So far nada – will post when one is made available.

From what I browsed through there seemed to be nothing but on top of this it seems I can't sign into the EA download manager either and all those details are correct.

Yeah tried that but warpatch doesn't want to be deleted says it's being used by another program/person tried deleting in safe mode says it's write protected

virus scanner or something locking the file? an executable that gets picked up as being designed to be able to replace itself might attract virus scanner's attention

I had previously communicated that there was an issue with the installation of Warhammer Online Standard Edition. We are pleased to announce that the corrupted file has been located. A new file is available for direct download at the link provided. We have also set up a patch download page which you can go to.

Instructions for installing the patch:

· drag it into the program file where you had saved the install
· click on the patch
· enter login and password
· run download
· then click play

there was a cd duplication error in the aus and nz standard editions which corrupted the exe.
