No coincidence a fire break out right where the heritage listed part of the building was.....now is it? (the centre part of the building)

Rumor has it they were not allowed to touch parts of the building but they wanted to renovate those parts. Then a mysterious fire comes along...

I find that a bit of bs.

So in other words you are suggesting that someone deliberately set fire to the place while it was packed with people. Now there is every chance a plan like this can go wrong with people dieing and it being discovered that the fire was deliberately lit.

So what's that.. pre-meditated murder or man slaughter which would attract life in prison. Sounds like a risk worth taking.

Considering how much money one can make in such a venture, people have killed for less.

You seem to think people continue to think rationally even when overrun by greed.

i think the most mysterious thing about the whole thing is how the place burnt down given the amount of water in the drinks.

I've been told by people that work(ed) in the Vic that the people who run the Victory Hotel wanted to keep the current structure intact and just add to it while reworking some of the inner fixtures. The land owners (devine I think it was) wanted to rip as much of the original structure as they could and build a massive multi-use building over the top of it. I was told that there's a lease on the building running until 2025, and the owners can't kick the tenants out (without good reason). There's a rumour floating around that there was a clause in the lease stating that if extensive or irreparable damage was done to the heritage listed structure of the building, the lease would be null and void...

I look forward to the Vic comeing back, I think it was the best place to go to in the city. I've been hitting the Valley a fair bit lately, but there's too many random d*******s starting fights with people for no reason.

Did you guys even read the article? :

Mr Proudlove said at this stage the group would not be pressing ahead with plans to raise the hotel to five storeys and add several verandahs and a roof-top bar.
