Providing a smooth and enjoyable experience for all players is always a priority for us, and we are continually re-evaluating our policies and programs to do so. As the state of the game has matured substantially since the inception of Paid Character Transfers, we will now be allowing PvE-to-PvP transfers on a full-time basis to provide players with more mobility and freedom to easily play with their friends.

Hehe, I can see a lot of whinging going on over at the forums because of this. I wouldn't mind moving my rogue across just to be a real prick to lowbies because that's exactly what happened to me trying to lvl up a guy on Frostmourne.

Not sure how it can kill PvP since for the most part, PvP is already dead. The only places that you can do it properly is in BGs/Arenas which are all cross-realm anyway.

World PvP is now left to the 70 noob who likes to kill level 20 players because he probably can't hold his own against people his own level.

I can't believe I don't know this being a professional computer nerd but what is PvP and PvE...I see it written often in reference to WoW but never know what it means.

Am I the only computer nerd in the world that loved playing games as a kid but now that I work all day on computers the last thing I want to do when I get home is play computers? I genuinely wish I still enjoyed computer games but just can't bring myself to it.

PvP = player verse player
PvE = player verse environment

PvP would be fighting against other players and PvE would be fighting against computer controlleds dragons. In WoW and most MMOs they split servers up based on this game style.

The usual difference when it comes to servers is that on PvE you have to consent to attacking another player or wanting to be attacked. On a PvP server you are flagged for combat for the majority of the time.

Also, it seems that a large majority of PVPers tend to be the same kind of s***head kids who use aimbots and team kill in FPSes, whereas a lot of the PVErs seem to be older and (in theory) more mature.

Broad generalisation I know, but that's how it seems to me.

I can't say I really agree, Gesthemene. When I used to play WoW, I found PvP servers much more enjoyable. Not because I liked to attack other people, simply because it added an extra element of risk and danger when traversing the lands, particularly at lower levels. I just find appealing, and MMOs should be utilising all the depth they can.

Fair enough... could be because I play on Proudmoore, which is a PVE realm.

As such, a lot of the PVPers we get seem to think that they're top s***, when for the most part, on a PVP server they'd be mediocre.

Now you can transfer off to Barthilas to escape those PvPers. Especially if you're a 70 horde healer who will follow my paladin around instances and become my own special healbot.

Tempting, but I play an alliance hunter and warlock and am currently levelling a shammy and a pally.

Also, unless you're in Gigantor, Schism or Offline, you can't match my current guild for progression :P

I was in nochocolate before they went tits up, most of the guys joined Offline or OP but I decided to gear up some alts and friends. Only just started getting back into raiding now.

This is a stupid news announcement. And saying a pvp player on a pve server is less skilled than a pvp player on a pvp server is also stupid.

Like some c*** said, outside of arenas and bgs which are available to both server types, there is 0 pvp. Unless of course you call killing greys/gettin 1 shot by 70s "pvp".

However, if you have a rogue, ganking people in ironforge as they come out of bgs is heaps of fun, just a c*** to get to though.

They killed world PvP with the honour system, and making a 60 killing a 55 who hasn't attacked them first an 'honorable' kill.

Nice job taking what I said out of context... I was talking about the retard PVPers who talk big and act like they're the duck's nuts on a PVE server where 90% of the population couldn't give a s*** about PVP.

What I was saying is that most of these retards (as opposed to the actually skilled PVPers who let their ratings etc speak for themselves) would find that they're actually pretty mediocre in an environment where the whole population PVPs by the very nature of the server.

Also, your comment about ganking people when they've just stepped out of a BG indicates that you're probably one of those retards I was talking about :)

They may be a minority.
But they have the potential to destroy the enjoyment of the game for people.

"lawls" I 1 shotted your level 20 with my s4 geared rogue while you were on the boat trying to get from Wetlands to Darkshore.... again and again and again (thats one example there are/were {some are fixed} heaps more eg.standing on rooves killing people in neutral towns ? killing quest npcs in towns ? killing people before they got control of their toons after zoning)

Leveling in pvp is not hard. In fact evenly balanced pvp fights are a fun diversion. In fact one of the most fun time I had in wow was when me and Saint in Stranglevale got repeatedly attacked by (but beat) 2 character a few levels high then us. They even called in a third and we won.

Griefers and lowbee gankers are pretty much the only hard part of pvp. Well that and dailies.

I seriously see no point to pvp servers ever since the cross realm arenas and BGs. (other then griefing)

I dunno, the few times I've played toons on a pve server in WoW, I've found more retards and more griefers than I ever have on a pvp server. Cos they can't gank you on a pve server, they find new and interesting and even more infuriating ways to f*** with you. I'd much prefer to just get ganked, at least then I can log on my mage and come and mess up whoever ganked me.

Yeah, there is nothing more annoying then someone of the other faction pissing you off in a non-combat zone. Sitting on roofs and killing quest NPCs and you can't even assist the NPCs to kill them, annoying.

When I use to play and I was out in the wild I wouldn't attach the other faction unless they attacked me first or I saw them attacking a lowbie of my faction. Then I would dominate them and kill them again for the waste of my time.

Ganking/PvP in the 1-60 zones is all but non-existent anyway these days. The hunter I've been levelling has been left entirely alone during his time in the various contested zones. Is kind of dull actually - I miss the old days of Stranglethorn :(

I've been leveling up a Hunter and a Priest in Stranglethorn Vale, on Blackrock, from their early 30s to early 40s this past 2 weeks.
There is no honor left in world PvP.
Level 70s partol the roads and entrances to quests hubs continually through out the day, killing quest npcs and denying access to the other fraction. Low level players are escorted everywhere by epic geared bored raiders. And when ever you engage a horde of equivalent level and win, his lv70 friend turns up to sit on your corpse for 10mins.
It's not just the horde though, we alliance often have lv70 riding around posting in the general chat, asking for the location of all horde lowbies in the area.
And when the loot is dropped in the arena, half a dozen 70s are there to corpse camp hopeful players who want a nice blue, even from there own fraction.

Do you play on the same Blackrock I do Lynx?

Can't say I've seen much in the way of grief at all of late. Hunter humanoid tracking makes avoiding people easy though might I add :)

Sounds like your one of the ones who turns up to save them from getting their asses kicked. Do you also run all your lv30 friends through RFK?

All I have to say about Wow's pvp is that I hope no other game in the future follows Blizzards example. Pvp in Wow is a total carebear joke and it always will be.

world pvp is dead because they made the game to casual.

u no longer have to leave your main town, u got the ah, arenas, bgs, mages can pretty much port to anywhere you want to go... so the times of camping zepps / boats are long gone.. which was fkn fun as hell back in the days of lvl 60 molten core when we'd get shiny t1 epics and go camp the boat, get a raid formed against us and blast away... then they brought in dis-honourable kills... that really killed world pvp.. nothing worse then been like 1 week off your next rank up and get a few dis-honours to drop you right back.

that been said, BC sucks... vanilla was awesome because pve gear translated right into pvp... in naxx gear i could kill anyone in a single stunlock cause i actually raided... now.. no need to really raid..

s4 weapons are generally the 2nd best in the game cept glaives and weps off KJ, a lot of the armour is equiv to t6 if you gem it that way, and it's easy as hell to get.. cept the shoulders.. but even then they're still pretty easy if u roll with a generic set up.

wotlk is just gonna be the same thing again, but they're promoting more hybrids with raid wide buffs instead of party buffs.

warhammer here i come, green ping > wow

Haha, it makes me laugh when people expect world pvp to be honorable. We camped some RP fag in ashenvale a few weeks back who was killing my alts, and he made this big RP rant on my guild's forums about how theres no honor in pvp anymore, it was comedy gold.

I guess these sorts if complaints are going to happen more often now when pve players transfer to pvp servers, and realise they can't just wave at people from the opposite faction and be bestest buddies.

want a green ping? www.wowtunnels.com

It's the same set up as lower ping but its free. Been using it for about 5 weeks now and like the 150-180ms.

I'm also on frostmourne as a rogue, same nick. I gave up pve when guildes forced epics onto the under-performers to help them with dps and healing issues. Sucked having top dkp in a guild when you dont get s***.
