Interesting trip into work this morning. There’s a truck wedged under the rail bridge next to the Toowong smashies (near the Regatta).

He’s done a real good job – had an excavator on the back and it’s wedged right in the middle of the bridge. There are several firetrucks, police cars, etc. all over sylvan rd so try and avoid it if you can as it's slow as through there.

Saw some camera crews there so should be some good photos in time :)

Caught the train outbound from Auchenflower and it was on time. There was no warnings or anything (f*** some train drivers are lazy, could at least let passengers know what's going on) but all the train did was go really slow over that section of track, didn't completely stop.

I reckon the driver is probably feeling just a little embarrassed though :P

On the Linkfield Ave overpass on Gympie Rd last Friday was an army truck wedged under the bridge. Surely it must be mandatory to know that HEIGHT OF BRIDGE > HEIGHT OF TRUCK to be able to drive one of these things.

lol how did he think he was going to make it.

his rear ramps barely make it under, and it would appear the excavator would have been up much higher than than, if you look even the cabin of the excavator didnt fit under, and is smashed aswell.

He obviously hit going full speed aswell, he probably s*** himself hahah, The tray is bent do bugger and it blew the tyres out.

The Murial Ave/ Sherwood Rd ("The Deathtrap")rail bridge is a common one for wedging trucks under as well. Seen 2 trucks wedged/topless and heard on occasion of about 5-6 other trucks.

... I don't think he thought about it

it didn't blow the tyres out, they would've been let down to release some of the pressure. you can see them inflated in the earlier pic

that trucky is fired for sure. Surely it should be in their check list to measure the height of the load! All the hydraulic lines on the top of the digger are gonna be rats*** aswell.

i believe the problem was he was going too slow to make it under:

if he had gone faster, he would have sailed through

There was a truck caught on the track at Sherwood apparently y'day afternoon AS WELL.

Affecting only trains going outbound after Sherwood.

No, castration then forced into slavery. That way they can work off their cost to society.

Depends how hard he really hit it, QRail will have their assessors on the spot to determine if the bridge has had any structural damage to it, if so, it gets expensive quickly.

Haha I saw the result of a truck that went under the same bridge as the OP. Turned the rectangle of the box on the back into a parallelogram.

a rectangle is already a parallelogram.

In geometry, a parallelogram is a quadrilateral with two sets of parallel sides. The opposite sides of a parallelogram are of equal length, and the opposite angles of a parallelogram are congruent.

but is a parallelogram always a rectangle? no - and that's what makes them illegal

doesn't matter, you can't turn something into something it already is.

it is like saying you were a boy, then you grew up to be a male.

and your retort would be 'a boy is a male, but is a male always a boy' + troll troll.

that's the thing isn't it
while it may be commonly said that 'a rectangle is a parallelogram', arguably it's not strictly true. this is because a rectangle _must_ have equal angles between it's adjacent sides, however the same isn't true for a parallelogram. therefore they are actually different.

so if someone says that a rectangle changed into a parallelogram, it means just that. it started out as a rectangle that met the criteria for being a parallelogram, and finished (as a result of the use of the word 'turned') as a shape that was no longer a rectangle but still met the criteria for being a parallelogram.

call that a troll if you will

it makes sense that you'd refer to something in the least ambiguous way. a rectangle is a parallelogram but most specifically its a rectangle. and a square is both a rectangle and a parallelogram but wouldn't ever be referred to as one.
