After our interviews yesterday in Leipzig, Blizzard have hooked us up with some new screenshots for Diablo 3, which you can check out on our Diablo 3 screenshots page. 13 new screenshots showing off some more of the lush colourful scenes that enrage all the Diablo 2 players that can't display adaptability, so dive in.

I sort of do see where they are coming from though.

I don't mean comparing it to Diablo 2 in isolation since I'm not much of a purist. I mean by excessive use of baby pink/blue/green/purple along with low-resolution textures and low polygon counts .. it really 'cutifies' the characters and scenery.

That actually turned me off Blizzard games early .. when War3 came out. I just didn't like the look and feel of the game. Ditto with WoW .. looked way too cute.

Let's have a look at the progression:

looks dark enough to me, especially considering the d2 pic was taken from a dungeon and the d3 pic is outside

i know the outside in d3 doesn't always look like that

but it still looks sweet

There's also some concept art in there that I added after the news post as well, some of which might make decent wallpaper

The original D2 was pretty damn bright in the daylit areas :o

These D2 players count "dark" as having three quarters of the screen as black. I installed D2 a few weeks back to celebrate the occasion and man did the darkness rape my eyes.

dungeon siege 2 Diablo 3 artwork is fine.

Seriously. Having a stat called "Light radius" should be abolished.

I don't play games to squint all the time, or lose 2/3 of the screen to shades of black.

it doesn't help that the entire first game was spent underground, i remember when first playing d2 thinking it was kinda lame running around outside after spending so many hours at the bottom of a monastary

i still think the atmosphere of the first one was better than the second one.
