Yep, Stargate Atlantis is going to be axed after Season 5.

Seems the countless fillers are getting a little too much. There's only so many times someone can lose their consciousness, skip to another dimension or get the base infected by viruses.
"Stargate Atlantis" will conclude its run on Sci Fi Channel after the current, fifth season ends next January according to MultiChannel News.

The network has however greenlit a two-hour TV movie to run after that and say the show will live on as a network franchise.

As much as I liked watching Stargate, there was always way too many filler episodes that didn't add a pinch to the story as a whole.

If you want some filler TV to watch you should try The Middleman.

Atlantis was very average IMO. The only character I really liked was Mckay.

Original Stargate was great minus the fillers. They had their fair share too. The Ori story SUCKED imo though. The whole Ancients/Atlantis thing in the later seasons was awesome, but its getting old now coz there aren't any Ancients based episodes. Its all wraith or filler eps.

How did I not know about Stargate Universe? Sounds cool, hope they don't make it boring.

yeah they cocked it up real bad with that ori thing, broke it up waaaaaaaay too much with meaningless eps. but they did that the entire series from day one, just not quite as badly as the last few seasons.

Atlantis started off good, but the constant Tayla and Ronin storylines pissed me off - never did like either charactor. I stopped watching season 5 after about episode 4.

It all went downhill after the Kurt Russell movie.

I just generally didn't like the Ori at all. The whole Ancients thing was cool. Atlantis was really good until they broke away from the Ancients storyline and just made it all Wraith and fillers.

After season 8, things just went downhill having that other chic on it (whatsername?).

Ronan's character is ok, but his voice s***s me off. So did Weir's voice.

And they should bring back some Asgard, they're awesome dudes.

I actually liked the new character that came into SG1...at least she was a bit different than "The solider-The geek-The tough guy-The Science person"...which, is pretty much the same as in Atlantis except the geek and science person are combined into one person and they've added in a stupid dopey woman too.

The problem I reckon is compared to SG-1, Atlantis has never fleshed their galaxy out enough - it would be basically impossible to not have all the filler they do, because they dont actually have anything to write about.

Sadface :(

Ronan will f*** you up, boy. He's a badarse. They episode with him and Teal'c was f***ing awesome.

I agree about Weir though, she's annoying.

Yeah, like I said, He's cool but his voice is just too croky; gets a bit much. Agreed about the Teal'c ep. That was awesome.

As for Woolsey taking over Atlantis, its not so bad actually. Its freshened things up a bit. Pity they couldn't find anyway to revive the Atlantis theme.

Ford (Season 1 young soldier), Weir, and Beckett (the Scottish doctor) were the worst things about this show, they successfully wrote them out of the show only to bring each of them back over and over again.

Stargate is awesome, seeing O'neill back in the latest SG-1 movie made me want to go back and watch the show before he became all senile.

Do you guys know the guy who played General Hammond, Don S Davis, recently died of a heart attack?

Wha? That sucks. Hammond was way better than General Landry. The original cast was the best IMO.

Yeah, sadly Hammond of Texas passed on.

Not sure what to make of Stargate: Voyager yet - worth a look.

I've met a few of the cast member from both shows - good sorts they are.

If you want to watch a decent sci-fi show with a strong story arc watch Babylon 5.

The End.

The SciFi channel seems to be running with the rest of the Atlantis episodes and using them as a lead in for Sanctuary, Amanda Tapping's new scifi show which she quit Atlantis for.

Christopher Judge and Michael Shanks are making a show about angels or something, got a feeling it will be like 'Dogma'.

You could tell it wasnt going to last much longer by the shrinking production values.

+1. Best Sci-fi ever. I might even call it the best TV series ever.

SG Atlantis was so bad I didn't even get past the first season. Crap actors, crap plot/story, crap setting, crap CGI. I can't really name anything positive about it.

Babylon 5 definatly has the best long term story out of the SCI-FI. The time travel story's work really because they had it all sorted from episode 1. You can really, really tell that the story was worked out long before the first 4 seasons ended.
