Posting for a friend. IT Support at a law firm, plenty of perks.


***Overall Purpose

To plan, supervise and deliver the timely provision of help desk support services
To provide help desk support to users when required
To be proficient in using all HGR software applications
To maintain the Help Desk call database
To provide administration support to the IT Department
To train / induct new starters

***Major Accountabilities

Be on-call after business hours as required
To provide first level help desk support to customers when required and to respond to help desk calls quickly, efficiently with a strong customer focus. (Help Desk calls are significantly application related)
Ensure that Helpdesk inquiries are logged onto the Help Desk support database system by recording all calls, assist with assigning calls to appropriate IT team member for resolution, and communicating with staff to ensure they are advised of any delays while providing an outcome
PC imaging
CD burning
PABX adds, moves, changes
Network patching
Train / induct new employees on firms systems. (outlook, word, excel, elite, desksite, intranet)
Review the documentation of previous user inquiries and their solutions to provide timely advice in similar matters in the future
Maintain the asset database by recording all hardware and software assets including purchase dates, warranty periods, leasing details, configuration specifications, locations and customer details
Maintain pooled resources including laptops and projectors
Setup resources required for board room presentation (Video conferencing)
Provide administrative support to the IT Team, specifically the Information Systems Manager and Infrastructure Manager
Participate in project initiatives
New user creation.
Prepare documentation for distribution to users so they can solve frequently needed maintenance/configuration issues
Maintain current knowledge of PC/desktop and LAN developments to assist users in the inquiries
Email releases
Appropriately escalate complex issues to IT Manager for resolution
Assist in other tasks as required.

***Current HelpDesk Support Services include:

HGR Software [installation, user set up and administration, auditing, upgrades, virus management
HGR Hardware (monitors/desktop PC’s, laptops, Blackberries, projectors, auditing, upgrades, user set up and administration)
Office Moves where computer equipment is affected
Backup tapes
PABX
Voicemail, Faxes, Photocopiers, Bill Back
Microsoft Office (Windows XP)
Interwoven Desksite

***Experience

Typically 2 years in a helpdesk environment or similar IT services Function
Ideally possess knowledge and experience within a medium to large company (approx 100 people) in a legal or professional services environment
Strong understanding of Desksite and Microsoft Office (Windows XP)
Training experience. Open to field.

$$$ = 50 - 60k
