Classic DC characters such as Batman and Superman face off against the fighting game genre's notoriously violent Kombatants, Sub-Zero and Scorpion (among others) of Mortal Kombat fame in the first ever cross-over between Midway's MK series and the DC Universe.

Is this just a cheesy attempt at making some cash? Or is there a good fighting game to be found upon investigation? You'll have to read our hands-on report for the full skinny, and be sure to check out all available media, locally on AusGamers, from our Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe game page.

That's such a copout that it doesn't have gore :/ Also, it was my understanding that they'd explained the superman being less than super by the fact that he gets his powers from Earth sun and that the fighting doesn't take place on Earth or something.

theres gore and fatalities and hes less than super because of magic. well thats what one of the developers said in one of the gameplay vids.

Didn't read the article did you...

I must say the article rambled on about nothing for the most part and didn't really mention anything about the 'hands on' experience. Was mostly just some s***ty rant.

ok watched the vid again. he doesnt say there will be fatalities etc but theres a s***load of blood. i must have imagined the fatalities.

he does say that magic is what brings superman down to the same level as everyone else though

Yeah first of all I wanted to be able to rip Superman's gay head off and watch the blood spurt from his neck too. But SECONDLY, there is one thing nobody seems to remember. After MK: Armageddon came out Ed Boon said over and over how that would be the last Mortal Kombat to have those characters and for the next gen systems they were going to create a whole new set of characters and storyline. I was looking forward to learning the moves for new characters and following a new story so this really just sucks ASS! Besides if they were gonna put anyone against the MK characters it should have been Street Fighter. Alright Peace!

Well, I'm a fan of MK and I'm a fan of DC so I'm really looking forward to this :P Even if its s*** I'm sure I'll still get a bit of fan service out of it.

Making an MK game without classic characters would be like not having Ryukens in a Street Fighter title.

And it would flop. :)

Could have sworn the most recent extended trailer for this game ended with a fade-to-black tease on the cry of "FINISH HIM!" so maybe there is some sort of finishing moves (not necessarily a fatality), planned.

I was so eager for this game to be released and was gonna be my sole reason to get the PS3, but if there is no gore/fatalities I'm not buying it, its not MK and its not cool to try and fame DC by making MK lame! Shame on you MK programmers, don't re-invent the best thing you ever did. Bring back the gore and for heavens sake people who started playing in the 80's are old enough now for an R18+ rating, I see that as being a #1 seller round the world, R18+ MK ooo yeah baby!

(Everyone knows whats right or wrong, otherwise no media [news or otherwise] would be allowed to be displayed)

P.S. The DC character costumes could at least be kept up to date with recent movie releases please!!!!!

***SIGH*** I wish people would get stories straight before posting!?¿ Ok ive just headed over to another gamers website which has video interviews with Ed Boon. THERE WILL BE FATALITIES....for the MK characters and the Villians. But the heroes will have Brutalities as paveway suggests yes the DC characters dont kill people. Ed says they hope to have more than one per character as well so it looks like other than the DC costumes everything is going to be ok DON'T PANIC.

Faith may have been restored. Oh and by the way scorpions fatality is pretty cool with the new graphics!

Because you have MAGIC HANDS

Seriously, why does it matter? This is mortal kombat, its not like they've set the standard in previous games for realistic fatalities.

superman has 2 weaknesses. kryptonite and magic. mk is full of magic and sorcery so thats why they are able to beat the s*** out of him

I played a bit of this as well and really enjoyed it. The last MK game I got into really seriously was MK2 (thanks to dranged's MK2 machine which was awesome). While I think it's lame DC wouldn't let them fatality the characters it's still a pretty fun game to play and it's neat having a heap of different chars to mess around with.

The impression I've got from everything I've read is that the only restriction is DC Heroes don't do fatalities, ie. MK characters and DC Villains can still do fatalities, even on Heroes?
