Thermaltake 430w PSU is going to be pushed pretty hard with that setup especially if you are overclocking as well...

They are pretty average PSUs to start with so yeah I personally wouldn't be running that kind of setup with one.

I used to think similarly, the most I've ever spent on a case was $190 for a Sonata II about 3 years ago.

These days I don't think 300-400 on a really good quality case is such a bad spend considering how long you could have it for.

Atleast they haven't changed the ATX layout of motherboards, I've had my Lian-Li Cases for ages. and still have a Aopen HX08 collecting dust.

If you haven't got active cooling on them, I would recommend getting some stat. They are some of the most fragile ram ever made, great but oh so fragile.

no direct active cooling on them, good case air flow though. NO worries really, lifetime warranty, if they go screwy i will get them replaced, and most likely with something newer if they go in the future.

^ just fyi - "lifetime warranty" isn't
It's the "lifetime" of the product cycle (eg, DDR2 is superceeded by DDR3 etc).

if its superseded then they are required to give a full refund of the purchase price or equivalent product in current line up. so either way i dont lose.

You do realise stores will only handle it for the first 12 months, the rest you go directly through Crucial themselves, unless you actually have a kind store. Considering they're in the states, good luck trying to force their hand into a refund.

That being said, they're quite good with their RMA's.

AMD box here! I just upgraded to an Antec 300 (from Sonata II) case and a HIS 4850 (from crossfire 1950Pros) so I'm set for a while. Plus my wife would kill me given the games I've bought for the PS3 and Wii recently. Was nice to get over $2000 back in tax though. :-)

In the world of audio I love it when they complete double-blind tests between $1000+ monster cables & an 'unknown type'.

...and after the listeners cannot decern the difference they reveal the 'unknown type' to be wire coat-hangers soldered together. :)

But audio is low frequency (we only hear as high as 20kHz), so it's another kettle of fish compared to video cables.

HDMI is digital transmission tho not analogue waveform. Therefore if the cable you have is artifacting, its broken. It also means that so long as the 1's & 0's all arrive, the signal will be identical if your cable costs $15 or $4000. The difference between the $80 and $200 cable in question here, is that the $80 cable was broken, and the $200 one is not. Pretty dumb comparison imo.

I may be interested in ur 500's depending on price, let me know when u wanna sell.

I spent my tax moneh + a whole lot more on a motorcycle... so no PC upgrades for me, don't really need it anyway as TF2 runs great at 1650 and thats pretty much all I play anymore.

I guess I should follow the trend and post my specs anyway

GTX left my gaming rig an migrated to the HTPC when I got the GX2 (runs 2550 x 1650 smooth as silk in CoD4). Knew I wouldn't get jack s*** for it selling it so figured, what the hell. I play all my racing games on the HTPC so @ 1920 x 1080 it needed the boost :)

Oh yeah, Gaming rig has a Thermaltake 850w Toughpower in it an the HTPC runs on a Tagan Dual Engine 800w
- ps: PC in kitchen is a core2 6700, 2gb ram and an 8800GT in it :p Good spare for when mates come round.

sorry but u got suckered. UNLESS you have a situation where the cable is running over a long distance and running past alot of electronic devices that arent shielded. If that is the case then a well shielded cable will assist in reducing INCREASED traffic on the cable which may cause sparkles. OTHERWISE a $15 msy cable will do the same job as the $200. its a digital cable, you cant get signal loss, without it completely failing, same as when you get a low signal on digital tv. you can get added interference over long stretches, but its rare on short ones. As long as both are rated to carry hdmi1.3 (ie full HD audio and 1080p signal). had mate buy a hugely expensive hdmi cable come over and test his agaisnt both my $15 ones, no discernable difference on any output device from a bunch of HD sources.

In my games rig, I just use a ASUS My Cinema U3000 Mini & Media Centre (plus an awesome lil app called "Mce Guide Editor" to alter the channels an remove redundant channels without having to go through a tedious process from within Media Centre itself. Available from http://afanaat.nl/

For the HTPC, considering how often I actually watch TV, I don't even bother with a tuner card. I just use the Digital Tuner in the TV directly.

bundaberg ginger beer ftw!!! haven't had it in years :(

what headphones are they 59?

I have a duo core 1.8ghz ASUS laptop 17", 2gb ram, x1600(512mb) video, 100gb onboard

1 x 320gb USB Drive (only one I brought with me)
3 x 500gb USB Drive
2 x 1tb USB Drive

I <3 'pure' unlimited interwebs, so many linux iso in HD

Laptop is 2 years old, bought it just before I left Aus, still does everything I need it to do.

I'll build a phat games rig (maybe, considering I haven't played games in years) either that or just a rig good enough to view HD stuff and view the inetwebs, ohh and play CS ;)

I fricken bought TF2 and can't play it, tried to upgrade gfx drivers but it doesn't work, so I want to play it when I get home!
