So I just watched Batman Begins again last night (I've lost count how many times I've watched it) in the lead up to The Dark Knight next week. Every time I watch it I always see something new in it, like when bruce wayne sits down with falcone (the mob boss), pretty much everything he says to bruce lays the seeds of him becoming batman, from threatening his loved ones (forcing him to take on a disguse) to using fear as a tool against his enemies.

Other things I noticed this time around was the first time you meet dr crane (scarecrow) he's wearing a suit with a brown knitted vest underneath that looks like heshian. After watching the trailer for TDK there's a few lines echoed from BB, like rachel's line about how she'll be there for bruce when gotham no longer needs batman.

While on the topic, I'm glad they replaced katie holmes in the new one, she's one of the few bad things about BB, she can't act for s***, she's delivering deadly serious lines and she has a stupid smirk on her face.

I also like the foil of raz al ghul using decoys as his puppets, if one dies he gets another, giving the impression that he's immortal like he is in the comics. The was a line bruce gives when acting drunk in his mansion too, as he's telling everyone to piss off to save their lives, calling them two faced friends which for some reason I never noticed before.

Just everything about it seems to be well thought out, every scene means something and has a pay off later, apart from katie holmes the only other downside it the science behind the microwave emitter - if it vaporised water, it would kill any people around as well, but it's something I can look past since all the characters are so solid and fleshed out. Can't wait to see what Christopher Nolan does with TDK and I hope he does a third one and ends it at that.

This new movie could be the crapest ever but everyone will go on about how good it is just to piss in Heath's pocket. It's already started and is s***ting me to tears.

Reminds me of The Chaser's "Famous when your dead" song.

That's what I'm saying, no-one would dare give it a bad review and piss off the Heath lovers (ie: the world).

Everyone wants to see Heath go out on top.

It's getting good reviews because nolan knows what he is doing..He's sticking to what batman is truely about and is able to bring that out on film.

Yeah they're maybe people giving it awesome reviews because of ledger, but if they are honest they'll sad whats bad about it is aswell..

I truely think that this film will be the greatest batman movie ever, not just cause of ledger but because of how dark/twisted it is, but because of the power/emotion that'll be in it


WetWired, i truely think that katie holmes shouldnt have been picked for batman begins, she has no charisma/warmth to her acting..She's only good for dawson creek acting, nothing with passion in it..

Here we go, idiots hating the movie just because "everyone is only saying it's good because of Heath Ledger" instead of actually hating the movie for normal reasons.

katie holmes was s***e in BB, but i dont like maggie gyllenhal at all, she's butt ugly.

No supporting actor/ess will ever be better than Phieffer as CatWoman.

The hype for this movie began before Ledger's death, so you can't pin it on that.

dendy on george st is showing 'batman gotham knight' at the moment. its kind of like the animatrix. a series of films by famous japanese animators all about batman.

Maybe the movie is getting good reviews because it is good?

Exactly. When the first teasers and previews were released featuring Ledger while he was still alive, everyone went f***ing nuts about how awesome he looked as the joker. Then he died, and people are still going nuts but only to the same extent as they were before.

Saint's got it spot on... you can hate the movie, but don't hate it just because everyone else loves it AND it coincidentally has a dead actor in it.

i would usually watch clips from movies, but im not going to for this one.

I know what you mean, I accidentally found the first one and then that spiraled into watching all of them, and now I feel dirty :(

They're all awesome clips though. The batpod looks f***ing sweet.

I am so tempted to watch those clips, but I know if I do, I'll wish I hadn't.

i got sucked into seeing the first batman movie... what a crock of s***e


batman 2... my friend asks me to go with him, i tell him "no" in no uncertain terms. He rings me the next week and tells me he bought 20 tickets expecting other friends to come good with their pledge to attent and he will be out of pocket if he cant use the tickets. So being a kind person and a good friend i attend to help him out....i managed to get out of the cinema by half way through the movie and the good lady behind the counter let me transfer to another film at the cinema... batman having proved to be another crock of s***e

since then ive successfully avoided the franchise and its become a warning sign to me... when u see an absolute s***LOAD of advertising for a movie, u just KNOW its gonna be s***

You can't really call Batman Begins part of the same franchise as the other Batman movies imo. Its a totally re-imagined, rebooted version. I'm sure it'll be on tv sometime soon to drum up interest in Dark Knight, so you should do yourself a favour and watch it. I work with a guy who was exactly the same, totally hated the old Batman movies and didn't watch Batman Begins for aaaaaaaaages. Then when he did, he absolutely loved it.

i agree with Agamemnon. i liked the original movies when i was a kid. but when i try to watch them now, i cant because they are so f***en s***.

and yer what khel said. begins isnt part of the old franchise. its completely reimagined and directed by someone who understands the comics.

I'm sure it'll be on tv sometime soon to drum up interest in Dark Knight

begins is on tv this saturday i think. ill probably watch it since i dont have it on dvd anymore.

Ok to be fair (and as a result of some posts i saw in this thread) i took the time to watch Batman Begins the other night on TV.

A pretty decent movie, it was a 1000 times better than any of the other recent Batman movies i saw with Val Kilmer etc

So, i realise this makes me the complete batman noob at this point, but what is the "next" batman movie after Batman Begins? I will actually watch that one now that i have got over my (fully justified) bias :P
