sweet, sweet deal

awesome tv (plasma lolz) at a pretty good price, and then on top of that they throw in a ps3 which makes for a great deal

if you've been thinking buying a tv, check out sony!

http://www.sony.com.au/article.jsp?id=4129

i should have added a disclaimer that i hate sony more than apple, but they just make such darn good tvs

The cheapest TV you can get with that deal I think is a 40" for about 2k. still a good deal.

It was this year, and it was the same deal as this one. Buy a Bravia, get a PS3.

And $2700 for a 40" is s***. My old man got a 46" Samsung for $100 less.

from news.com

The game consoles, which cost around $699, can be claimed with purchases of the Bravia XBR, X3100, W3100, W4000 and V4000 models during July. The cheapest of the LCD TVs included in the promotion is around $2700.

Tempting off but still, I'm on my no-sony embargo until they do something serious to redeem themselves for the rootkit debacle

This is probably a move of desperation because Xbox is killing it in game sales and they're trying to get their install base. GTA4 sold 2x as many copies on Xbox 360 as it did on PS3, pretty amazing stuff considering what a massive deal the GTA brand has been for the PlayStation in the past.

to redeem themselves for the rootkit debacle

that was sony music. sony is very factionalized. just look at how upset sony music got when sony electronics released the NetMD with software to rip cd's straight onto MD discs. (see wired article)

i thought the reason you didn't like sony was due to your uncle's laptop warranty issue.

they had this deal earlier in the year, but I went with Samsung anyway because they were giving away a free TV.

Samsung M81 46" LCD - $2700
Samsung 32" LCD (720P) - FREE

Much better deal :)

it seems that you have to buy the tv, and be one of the first 35,000 people to actually submit your claim and have it reach sony...

While this is tempting the slim chance of Samsung coming back with the free tele deal is a winner.

two new TV's 46&32" for $2,700 - gotta be happy with that. (Other than your bank balance being $2,700 lower :()

I saw a current model Samsung 46" the other day playing the latest animated movie (not sure which one) on Blu-ray and I gotta say - it was f***ing amazing. I could not believe how could it was.

I've always been very critical of the LCD and Plasma tele's as I don't think they are worth the price when you consider their shortcomings (ie: s*** motion blur etc) BUT the current range from most suppliers is changing my mind.

it was pretty obvious you hadnt looked at a recent lcd, because motion blur hasnt been an issue for ages

yeah, the free PS3 doesn't start till 1st July guys. it's still in the $100-300 cashback promo atm.

yeah, it's a good deal. only available on new W series (W4000, not the W3100, and current X and XBR models.

it says it's on the first 35,000 people, but they only did 30-35,000 on the pre-christmas promo too
