I'm trying to get the word out so if you are in Queensland and are interested in a LAN there is on on friday.

Here's the details

GGF Friday 27th June 2008

GoodGamingFun is hosting a LAN THIS FRIDAY (27th/6), so rock up with your mates!

WHERE: Strathpine/pine rivers community hall, off Dixon st, which is off Gympie road Strathpine, dead easy to find.

If you don't know, just Google maps/whereis Dixon st, Strathpine QLD.

WHEN: this Friday, the 27th/6

TIME:get there at 9pm, goes till 10am Saturday

COST:10$ entry

FOOD/DRINK: cans of drink avail, and hot chips also!

WHAT TO BRING: Your PC, power board, warm clothing, your own snacks, whatever else you take to lans! Bring your cds and whatnot in case you have some bad luck. Spare network cables just in case etc.

DO NOT: Bring a PC that is broken. there will be techs on site to assist in minor issues, but they really don't feel like spending 6hrs walking someone through a fresh XP install on a a brand new machine for eg.

Plenty of parking available. Make sure all your OS,games etc (read: steam) is up to date.

If there is a decent turnout there will be comps run etc.

The good old days of daisy chained hubs at GGF where I would get a better ping playing on my modem at home.

How many people do you expect to turn up and what games are being played?

I got nothing else to do, for $10 I'll turn up for a battle.

Yeah it's overnight, most of the GGFs have been that way, don't know if it's next to a pool, I do know that it is next to Brodies Lighthouse.

GGF's have never stopped running, they just haven't been advertised as much.

Even if noone turns up i'll have my friends turn up that'll be at least 5 of us, there should be a lot of the regulars and if any people from here and OCAU and here come that'll add to the numbers.

Can't really be any more specific on how many people will turn up.

Never had any problems with pings at GGF, I'll be bringing a gigabit switch so at least part of the lan will have gigabit :P

As for games, I'm up for anything, Flatout 2, WC3, CNC 3, Crysis, Painkiller, Garrys Mod, Quake.

so is the impact critical for you or your opponent? just trying to get a hang of this "online gaming nick" thingy

I've had this nick for over 4 years, doesn't mean anything in particular, just heard it one day and decided to use that as my online nick.

I don't remember lag being too much of an issue, but I still remember the day the dodgy continually blowing circuits fried my power supply.

GGF is both Go get f***ed and Good Gaming Fun. They also had a yearly comp called IDGAF, I'll let you guys guess what that means.

id (software) games are fab

Zorro ripped me off for $100 when he bought a Zip drive off me and never paid for it, just left the lan
I saw him a few years later at a nudgee lan and promptly sought (and received) payment
