Since someone asked in another thread about the ability to move tabs from window to window and another about useful plugins I figure we should share the useful plugins we all use and what makes it better than the other plugins that do the same thing.
PLUGINS Tab Mix Plus. Awesome plugin that adds the ability to reload a tab, reload all tabs, changes the text in the tabs to itallic, bold, different colour or a combination of all 3. It also has the ability to move tabs to a new window, merge windows so if you have qgl open in one window, forget it's there and open another with qgl and google you can merge them and have one window with all the tabs from both windows. It can reload a tab at specified intervals, perfect if your F5 key is broken from all the F5'ing to see if you have a reply to that pesky hardware fault thread. What I love about this plugin is its ability to change the way tabs open/close in relation to each other and it can stop tabs from stealing focus so clicking on multiple links (say images or videos) opens the tabs in the background. note: for now only the latest dev bulds work with firefox 3 but I've been using this plugin since firefox 1.x so it's safe to assume it will be ported to 3.0 when the final release comes out. Tab Scope. This handy dandy plugin creates thumbnails of your tabs so you can mouse over a tab to see a thumbnail of the page loaded. I find this useful if I have 100 tabs open and all I see are icons and no url or page titles in the tab bar, if you're not a heavy tab browser then this plugin will probably be more of a novelty than anything really useful to you. GUI:config. This plugin allows you to change some of the things in about:config using a GUI. It lets you easily tune the amount of disk or ram space used for cache, the height and speed of the popup alert box that pops up when a download finishes etc all from a handy little GUI. It doesn't have any network tweaking aspects though. Video Downloadhelper. This is similar to unplug in that it lets you download flash videos from popular websites but the reason I use this over unplug is the ability to attempt to keep the original video name. I've found with unplug it just saves as the name of the video viewer the website uses whereas this will try to get the name of the original file and save as that so if you download multiple videos in a row you don't have to rename them all. It also allows you to download videos either one at a time or in the "normal" way using firefox's download manager downloading them all at once. Fission Puts the page loading progress bar into the address bar safari style. Useless but makes my browser look pretty :) It also has the ability to put the connection status (connecting to: sitename, downloading page, etc) in the address bar and when you mouseover a link it comes up in the address bar as it does in the statusbar (useful I guess if you have limited screen space and turn off the statusbar). Better GMail2. Adds a bunch of skins and macros to gmail. Worth downloading just for the "redesigned" skin I reckon. Net Usage Item. A bunch of you already know about this but I'll add it anyway for those who may not, it adds a little usage meter to firefox so you can track your ISP usage quota. It fetches the usage directly from their usage page (if supported) and and not from statistics it keeps itself so doesn't count intranet traffic like some usage meters that sit in the systray simply monitoring the network interface. Keeps track of peak/offpeak and can tell you how many kb/s per day you need to sit on to reach your allotted download limit for the month. NoScript. I prefer this over flashblock because it does more than block flash apps, it also blocks scripts that can also contain malicious code, agreed it's probably not the best thing for noobs to install because you then have to go and allow all the websites you trust as you come to them but in my opinion it's worth it if it stops nasty viruses from getting in via javascript. Adblock Plus. Obviously this blocks ads and should be disabled on all of Ausgamers hosted sites :) THEMES Noia2 Extreme. Hasn't been updated for firefox 3 yet but I've been using this since about 1.x so it should get updated and it's my most favouritest theme in the whole entire multiverse. Past Modern. Theme I'm currently using in firefox 3rc2. Simple, clean, monotone theme (grey). So get to it, post your favourite plugins or themes or alternatives to the ones I posted if you think they're better. |

Firebug
Firebug integrates with Firefox to put a wealth of development tools at your fingertips while you browse. You can edit, debug, and monitor CSS, HTML, and JavaScript live in any web page... Taper Data Use tamperdata to view and modify HTTP/HTTPS headers and post parameters... Very useful for web development and writing/querying web services. |

I second Tab Mix Plus. It was the reason I switched from Maxthon to Firefox.
Also Flashblock is a god send for saving yourself from annoying ads that consume way too much data and bandwidth. Also acts as a handy tool for preventing the auto playing of Youtube when opening many tabs. |

Internet Explorer He said "Firefox plugins", not "virus/spyware gateway". Trolling suppressed. |

I would mention Google Browser Sync, but it's not being updated for FF3 and will end at the end of this year.
Too put a short story short, I still have many passwords and logins remembered which I put in years ago, across many an OS install, windows and linux. Thankfully, because I sure wouldn't remember them now. So add Mozilla Weave to the list. I've not used it yet. |

Gotten used to Tab mix plus so much, its really frustrating me that I its not up to date yet.
Until it is up to date, anyone know of a way to make opening bookmarked pages in a new window in 1 click? (not right clicking, etc) |

Use the dev builds of tab mix plus CSIRAC. Can confirm the latest dated one works fine with FF3 final.
