I know some of you guys have some sort of cluepon about $'s and houses.

Is there a good method for checking the sale history for a house or area?

www.onthehouse.com.au

fairly new website (1 month?), but the ability to now do these searches for free rules!

in the ACT we have allhomes.com.au it is amazing. Every house ever sold searchable by maps or street+log. It even includes rentals. It's the #1 realestate site by far. Includes prices, photos from previous sales, photos from rentals, landtax, etc.

I saw an advert on sydney tv for a website that's started doing this, but i imagine it's pay/use.

All states should be required to provide this info for free.

that's pretty cool indeed. i can see my house and i can also see my nana's old house - 30k in 1980 (they did heaps of reno work) to 530k in 2003. It'd be worth a mil by now.

Some of the interesting ones are around mt cootha, eg sold one year for 1.2mill,few months later for 300,000 then back to 2.5 a couple of months later... very dodgy stuff

I wouldn't put 100% trust in that site. The sale price on my house is off by quite a bit.

dafugg, you're obviously searching wrong. it gets the prices from a database, that actually costs money to look at.

I can confirm it's not always right, or doesn't always contain info on some properties

Used to work in real estate, the one we used was rpdata.com.au

Actually scrap that, I think you have to pay for just about everthing on that site now days

They have been advertising this on the TV for retail users (not industry): myrp.com.au

don't know if it's any good though

well sandy sally. If it costs money then it MUST be right! All those products I produce must be perfect at work because they cost money and use databases. f*** yeah.
