Being a total excel noob (I still prefer to do everything on paper) I am having issues with significant figures and excel. I have significant zeroes at the end of values which excel is hiding or deleting when I enter them. ie: I enter 0.0190 and it puts 0.019 in the box. How do I make it stop doing this? Thanks. (Hate posting a pointless thread like this but I dunno what to call what its doing and that makes it hard to google for) |

If it's a fixed number of decimal places you want, "Format" the cell to have a certain number of decimal places. That's off the top of my head.

ok, that works. Is there an easier way to do this... like, can you get it to automatically figure out the decimal places I want from the number I am typing in?

Are you adding it up at the end?
If not format it to text. Otherwise, just format all of them to have heaps of decimal places. Or google, im sure theres a way, Im at work so cant atm. Try "Keep trailing decimals excel" or something like that |

you can post on qgl but you cant use google? :P I can make quick snide comments on qgl and be back about my business, Googling requires me to search through the pages, and read ways to fix it, and test it to make sure it works...and bla bla bla...too much time! |

There is the quick link in the tool bar to increase / decrease the number of decimal places. Its the ones with all the zero's and the . (the . indicating a decimal place). Didnt read thread properly so dunno if thats what your talking about.
