nearly fell off my chair when i heard about this this morning. Would b pretty sweet to come out of 8yrs uni to a 1million dollar job :P

Would be good if you didn't have to do Med to do some of the specialisations where you really don't need to have done general medicine. I think that's half the reason for the shortage of specialists.

Honestly ... blame the AMA. They created this shortage so as to be able to charge more for their services.

~8 years of uni, 1 as an intern, at least another 1 (many spend 3-4) as a resident trying to get a training position, then 5 more as a registrar. But a million dollars is damn good, much more than what QLD Health would give you.

However being a medical intern can lead to hilarious consequences. Any actual work you do just serves as a metaphor for problems in your own life.

at least 15 years to become a consultant radiologist depending on how long you spend as a resident/registrar/fellow and how much you f*** up your studies.

i had a mate that was a technitian, got paid pretty f***ing well.

The killer was when we went out and picked up chicks and they asked him what he did for work and he was like "oh im just a nucleaur medical technician" and they would just moisten up right there and b all over him hahhaha. bloody gold diggers :P
