After a reasonable quiet spell since last year's E3, THQ and Vigil Studios have released a new trailer for Darksiders: Wrath of War. The latest clip takes the form of a developer diary describing some of the inspirations for the game and showing off some tasty gameplay.

"Darksiders: Wrath of War": A fair effort at fitting as many buzzwords in the title as they could, but I can do better. How about "Darksiders Kaos: Wrath of War, Power, Rage, Blood and Death!", now THAT appeals to my intellect and about sums up the entire game.

Apparently, narrated game trailers with some concept art slapped in now classify as a “dev diary”; No longer is an actual insight into the development process needed. I won’t fall for that trick again.

However, I must give credit where it’s due. Ten points for innovation and creativity. Who would have thought of taking all the elements of games we love and throwing it into one single compelling experience? Genius! Seriously though, if they got one thing right, it’s appealing to my masculinity. You play as a badass warrior with a giant sword raining death on demons and angels in a dark apocalyptic world. Finally, all my fantasies of empowerment are fulfilled. My hormones are just raging.

And for the people who got instantly excited when hearing “the four horsemen of the apocalypse”, shame on you.

So there are 4 different games for the 4 different horsemen?

That's the impression I got phooks, though I'll admit I know next to nothing about the game. This trailer really surprised me for that reason, given that previously I'd only seen a couple of screenshots and THQ haven't really done any pimping of it at all.

Sure, it doesn't seem like the most original concept, but it basically looks like God of War with better graphics. Could be sweet.
