So who's gonna be grabbing it tomorrow? what flavor?

teq suggests the mall will be packed to the brim with people keen to get their krispy kreme on.

I don't know if they're doing a midnight launch tonight? I've already got a list of what I want in my mind. apparently I will have to wait until lunch time to go down because I wont have time to go there on my way to work.

Also I'm feeling hungry

I have a mate who brings me back them every time he is in Sydney. The first one is great and by the time I hit the 6th I feel utterly sick.

I will keep them as novelties and wait for people to bring them to me from interstate. Then again, if they are in Brisbane now, maybe they won't?

Either way, I wouldn't pay for one, what a rip off.

No, not in a row. That is usually the next day or so. Just after I have 6 (in say a month) my body shuts down - but they are there and I need to eat them

it is awesome

not only will the donuts you bring when you come up to brisbane be a lot better tasting cos they're not soaking up the mexican air, but they'll be fresher as well cos you'll have picked them up in brisbane instead of sydney a couple of hours earlier

yeah wtf, when I was walking past there this morning there was 2 dudes lined up with chairs with something like "I was the one of the first to have a krispy kreme" written on the back.

How pathetic must your life be to line up for a f***ing doughnut?

Yep saw them today... they were chilling with a meal and laptop :)

Someone was saying some dealo about the first 10 people or something get free Krispy Kreme for a year... they did that with Fantasy Donuts (same company apparently?)... that may be while they're lining up.

at their prices, free donuts for a year would effectively make you a millionaire.

if you ate 1000 a day... but I guess they'd impose some telstra like limit on it.

"free donuts for a year... you just have to make this one donut last that long, we've even licked the icing off the top for you"

the markup is ridiculous, can you see any of their doughnuts costing more than about 50c to make?

even for the expensive ones which go for $3~ each, thats a 600% markup

also, did anyone get that this is a serious parody thread ala the "GTA IV tomorrow" ? :/

Dreamy Donuts > Krispy Kreme
A family friend owns a franchise, they're going under unfortunately... his store is essentially taken over by headquarters (not sure how that works, they try to help you) and they're trying to salvage/sell his $400k investment for him, they're good as dead.

They have McDonalds in Queensland, but no Krusty Burger. There's little differences - you can still get a Krusty Burger with Cheese - but they don't call it a Krusty Burger - they call it a Quater Pounder with Cheese. You can also get Partially Gelatinated, Non-Dairy, Gum-Based Beverages, but they're called "Shakes" - you don't know what you're getting :/

the original glazed ones are a 52g serve, 198 calories with 3.0g of saturated fat which is 5.7% - or 94% fat-free if you prefer to look at it that way :)

not sure what agent99 is talking about

False.

One donut is 835kJ(198 Cal), 12g fat (3g saturated)

Carbs 22g (10g sugars)

That's off the back of the box. Don't know what you be smoking girl.

Also, they taste delicious enough to have 40g of fat in them. I had to eat 3.5 of them just to get my 40g this morning.

f*** me. If that's true:
To put this in perspective, it would take most people here about 30 mins of high intensity exercise to burn that amount of energy. And I don't mean walking up the stairs to work a few times, I mean killing yourself on a treadmill, bike or smashing weights for thirty continuous minutes. That's not even considering the softdrink you have with the donut, or any of the other s*** you eat for the rest of the day.

edit: only 200 calories? only 20 minutes working your arse off;)

Considering there's 9 calories in a gram of fat it's not possible to have 40grams of fat and only 350 calories per donut as agent99 stated.

Even if you were eating 40 grams of pure fat with nothing else in it that's 360 calories.

Yeah that's right, if you're some kind of freak with no basal metabolism, doesn't burn any energy just staying alive and has no discernable brain activity. To put it in real perspective, all that fat isn't healthy and eating them everyday will almost certainly shorten your life, but 1 damn donut won't make a difference to your health and fitness over a life time.

but 1 damn donut won't make a difference to your health and fitness over a life time.

I think the implications are when it becomes a one-a-day or 2-3-per-week activity.

I can confirm the treadmill at UQ tells me 200 Cal after 20-25 mins of exercise. I'm sure it's not that accurate (other factors are obviously involved) but in the right ballpark.

After Billy's comments I may stay away from donuts in the longterm (thank you!)

The only reason why even not doing anything (such as end of lunch in an office job) after eating a donut (200 Cal) doesnt make you fat is coz ur burning 80-100W just sitting there and maybe walking around a bit. So in about 3 hours at 80W your body has burnt off most of that maybe minus some of that fat or saturated fat.

Woot for my backup called BMR! I think my BMR is about 75-80W average.
