hey guys... i've been googling my butt off trying to find information on this...

i went to the fraser island fishing comp a couple of years ago they had a ceromony for the anzac's and raised a flag and they said all alcohole consuption besides milk + rum was banned for the day. all they served was milk+rum and after a while it grew on you (it was nice a bit warm..)

i guessed that it was due to milk+rum being the only things the anzacs had or something, thats what i remember someone mentioning...

does ANYONE have ANY experience or information on milk+rum?? surely someone else has been to the comp and seen this or heard of it?

gunfire breakfast it was called when i was in
served direct to your cups canteen from these huge urns down the boozer.
so after our morning parade it was straight to the boozer for this along with a "traditional" breaky of mince on toast. (f***in horrible but i was 18 so who cared)
on the piss by 8AM and on the floor by 8PM....

the origins i believe are that the rum (which kept the best over long journeys) was provided to troops before they "went over the top" to give them a touch of courage. as these attacks were usually at first light it became a tradition.

PS. boozers being on base operating hours weren't a concern so we drank all other stuff from opening as well

Well I got a bucks weekend this weekend starting on Friday, we're doing the whole dawn service s*** and...

on the piss by 8AM and on the floor by 8PM....

sounds like a f***en jolly good idea for the morning.

Know of anywhere in Brisbane city that would be doing this after the service/parade?

is there an RSL in the city?
