Pokies Chasing Young Gamers

A NEW futuristic line of poker machines with Xbox-style graphics will rake in a younger generation of gamblers according to experts.

If I had a club there would be no pokies, there would be like Time Crisis and Street Fighter. I wouldn't make money, but I don't give a f***, I just don't like the pokies atmosphere.

pokies are for idiots, give me the horses or dogs any time. I can spend an entire day playing the horses over beers at the pub and I don't think I've ever lost more than $20 bucks. Mind you I've never really made much either, but I don't do it for the 'big win' it's just fun to pass the time.

my other favourite is keno, heads or tails, always bet heads, bet every game, double your bet every time you lose. Guaranteed to win double your initial bet ( as long as you can bankroll it ). Last time I played it I had to bankroll all the way up to $360 ( which meant I spent about $700 all up ) before I finally got my win. I've been a bit wary of it since as it can be hard to come up with that sort of money in the minute between games.

Yeh, I've heard that plan mentioned for roulette before, but if you assume the minimum bet is $1 (no idea what it is for keno?) then it only takes a few rounds before you're into hundreds of dollars, and if you lose every round before then you can only ever win 1 dollar! odds-wise though it sounds like a decent way to brute-force your way through to some success

they are targeting young people with pretty graphics etc. not necessarily gamers per say.

That's called the martingale system, and is of course a failure:

and on top of this more complicated ways to play different bet styles minigames etc basically more components to keep an easily bored audience interested.

I'm the opposite with this because I went from playing the pokies and going to the casino to playing quake and other stuff from then on. When I got my first PC and net connection it was way more fun playing games than losing money on dumb machines.

download the leaked aristocrat roms and play them on your own computer, saves you a tonne of money and even has the linked train feature, only thing missing is the ugly old ladies drooling on their buttons and the overwhelming depressing atmosphere.

obviously I don't have the roms I am just saying that if they had been leaked by a disgruntled employee then this would be the way to go.

Yeah, it took a few years of doing it occasionally before I hit a tough streak that went much over $100. I haven't played it at all since the big one, I don't have infinite wealth and evetually that would come back to bite me in the ass.

I'd be interested to see if you played it consistently over time with a starting bet of $5 and a max bet of $500 if you'd win or lose long term. You'd have to win at least 100 games to make up for a single loss of $500, so probably not :)

The problem with the doubling bet system is that if you dont win before the bet limit is reached, which is pretty easy with roulett, then you are screwed.

And you only ever win what you layed down on your first bet. Ive done it a couple of times, started at $10 minumum bet andgot up to $80 and then won, but only won $10. From memory the maximum bet is $500 so, you cant double past $360.

If there was no maximum bet and you could bankroll it, technically you could never loss.
