does anyone know of any free decent converters around? specifically that can convert to mp4 format?

what about that mediacoder?
someone put me onto that once before....works well...not sure about mp4 but worth checking

I've just finished setting myself up with all sorts of tools to do just this for my iphone.

I'll post a bunch of links once I get home and have my bookmarks handy.

I also just discovered avidemux, which looks pretty good at first glance for basic editing/conversion. I'd say mediacoder is what you want if you're just format shifting though.
