Well, Ross succeeded in getting me into EvE with this thread, and now I'm mining it up big time, making some ISK and starting to think I might be useful to a corp. I'm probably a week or two away from my first mining barge (probably a retriever). I'm currently flying and osprey and I have a badger to haul stuff around in, and that's generating some nice ISK... well I think so anyway.
Any QGLers that are in a decent mining & manufacturing & phat lewt generating corp? |

christ just reading that makes it seem like a boring ass jobI have lasers! They suck rocks :P Also I have missiles and little fighter planes that smaq down any pirates that get in between me and my precious rocks. Mantra what system are you mining in? I need to tell Jihad Swarm...I'm mining in ... hey, wait a sec... Join Interslice 2 its full of all the pussies taht left Interslice when war was declared on themIt isn't about being a pussy, it's about having an income stream. From what I understand, getting exploderised in EvE is an expensive business. I also have a Minmitar combat dude called Samuel MFJ, and a Gallente trader type, but I'm concentrating on my miner for now. I think it's a good wayt o get to know how things work for a noob. Haha, that was my first thought too. And people give wow s*** for being a mindless grind! How can you justify spending all your spare time clicking on space rocks!I do admit the clicking on rocks bit is boring, but it's loadout and skill planning and ship mods around it that make it interesting. I also find the way that trade works in EvE fascinating, it's a fully fledged market economy with people having a real effect on things. I also like the whole alliance/corp stuff and the 0.0 politics, it's a virtual world in the true sense of the word. The organisation behind all that stuff like building outposts and "owning" systems is just mind boggling in my opinion... cool stuff. Anyway, clicking on rocks isn't that much different to repeatedly pressing 3 and hurling fireballs at things. I got tired of WoW, but I'm sure I'll be back. |

Mantra salvage is more interesting than mining, makes more isk, and leads into ratting nicely. Get a Cormorant (or your racial destroyer) and kit it out with salvagers and tractor beams.

You don't have to click on space rocks to earn money in Eve, there are several possible avenues of income. It comes down to personal choice. |

Mantra salvage is more interesting than mining, makes more isk, and leads into ratting nicely. Get a Cormorant (or your racial destroyer) and kit it out with salvagers and tractor beams. Thanks for that, I'll take a look. I think I've gotta do some reading on this, cause it sounds to me like you shoot baddies into wrecks, loot the wrecks, then slavage the wrecks. I'm not convinced about it making more ISK, a really efficient mining setup can be pretty lucrative especially if you keep an eye on the market. Just my noob opinion though... i have a 25m sp character you can have for $600USDWhy would I buiy a character when I can play one?! :P Ah, so thats the hook, I remember how into Earth and Beyond you got with all your trading and crafting stuff :)Damn straight, the spreadhseets are out again! :D i had a Badger once. it was slow and did mining and stuff..Mining in a badger is not very efficient way to do it. A mining cruiser or even frigate can get more throughput than a single turret badger, even with MLUs. Just use a secure container if you're in <0.8 space or jet can mine. With my Osprey, I can fill a 27.500m3 can in under 45mins then I come and pick it up with my badger, refine it, find a good price for my minerals and go for a selling run wherever the price is good (depending how far away it is). I've been playing for about 3 weeks now and have close to 20mill ISK, and I'm not playing every night. I personally think that's pretty good considering I've never played before. I would have trained some skills differently if I did it again. |

Mantra with salvage you either follow ratters (ideally with their permission), or just visit roid and ice belts and look for wrecks. Ice belts are always full of miners who smash rats as soon as they appear, you then scoop up the parts, and sell at a premium. Easy isk.

Is it worth putting a salvager on my badger when I'm picking up? There are always lots of wrecks when I'm finished, then I might be able to get a bit of both worlds :)

Mantra the rig parts you salvage take up practically no space (you'd need many hundreds to fill a frigate's cargo hold), and with one salvager you'd be a long time salvaging each wreck. Well, a minute or two each... Cormorant is best, and not very expensive.
