http://images.ausgamers.com/games/screenshots//Frontlines: Fuel of War/TN_FFOW-WC-FiringMG.jpg Good news for Frontlines players - Kaos Studios have announced (via their forums) that a new patch is en route with some important fixes for common problems: We are about a week away from releasing 1.02 which includes many fixes and we are already at work on 1.03 where we plan to have an overhaul to the server browser to fix many complaints. They've also announced a dedicated server thing will be released, allowing dedicated servers to be run without CD keys (yes, at the moment you really need a CD key to run a server). They've been copping some flack about the lack of a standalone dedicated server, and it seems they may be removing forum posts - one of our posts (Google cache) is no longer visible on the forums in the original thread (looks like it vanished over the Easter long weekend). Hopefully though we'll have a dedicated server out soon which will lead to an improved multiplayer experience for anyone wanting to play this game online. |

Just a few minor things that I am 100% sure they will fix when the 1.0.2 patch comes out, or maybe 1.0.3...Sadly my experience is that if a game doesn't get that multiplayer critical mass shortly after launch, it almost never will - which is a real shame because it'll just kill it online. You've really got to capture people's attentions with multiplayer at launch, or else its really, really hard to get them back. |
