Topic: Star Trek MMO Still Coming?

http://www.ausgamers.com/images/features/sto_splash.jpgIt was suggested late last year the forthcoming Star Trek MMO simply called Star Trek Online was in the can due to financial problems at publisher/developer Perpetual Games, but recently the official Star Trek Online website went live again with the Star Trek insignia and "Coming Soon" written boldly where many nerdy men have gone before. But in all seriousness, this is good news for Star Trek fans and MMO lovers looking to get their green alien love vibe on. The MMO was planned to be set in the 24th century (Star Trek: The Next Generation time period), but your advantures could take you as far as the Delta Quadrant to Voyger or to the very border of Federation Space aboard Deep Space Nine. And if that's not enough Trek for you, apparently some quests would even take you back as far as original Trek and even Enterprise.

Hopefully something more official than a "Coming Soon" page will make its way to the gaming press soon.

Hmm, do you get to choose what sort of uniforms you get to wear? The old school original uniforms or the trendier generations ones?

^Like the big Star Wars following?

I'm a Trekker and followed the Perpetual drama. In the washup it was better that PE didn't go forward with STO as it was headed down a very dark path (pay for items on top of monthly subs as one example).

Cryptic are doing the rounds as the company most likely to pick up STO. After handing over CoX to NCSoft and Champions Online in the pipe, STO could do worse than be developed by the superhero team.
