I am under the impression you can't do absentee votes if you are out of town for council elections. I think it is too late to do a postal vote.
Does AEC look after the local council elections or would it be BCC? Anyone know how to vote without being here? |

Does anyone know of somewhere that lists the locations of the polling places for this election? I've been looking around, but all I can find are the polling places from the Federal election.

For electors who cannot attend a polling booth as set out above, the only available options are to lodge a postal vote or to vote at one of the ECQ’s pre-poll centres. There is NO ABSENTEE VOTING at local government elections other than BCC elections. For the BCC election, absent voting will be available within Brisbane only and NO PRE-ARRANGED INTERSTATE OR OVERSEAS VOTING.Laaaaaaaaame. I'll be on the Gold Coast this Sat. Lucky this thread was posted or I wouldn't have noticed that. |

But a letter is not convenient enough. It requires the opening of an envelope.

Gay as AIDS...I voted for some council by-election when Beattie quit or something like that only a few months ago (it seems).
How about we have a referendum on whether we should have to vote or not....and make it not compulsory....although that may fail. What time does voting open? I'm leaving Vegas early Sat morning to go hiking, and will probably end up camping. This is truly a pain in the ass. |

Unfortunately, roads are not the solution to traffic. (If anything more roads = more traffic)
Traffic will increase to fill the roads. Think of it as supply and demand. "Cost" being time to travel. Increase supply, cost drops demand increases. Now if you add another "cost" into the trip instead of simply time, you might maintain demand. Hence, the solutions would be unpopular. |
