Also, when you go out into the deep blue, take sea-sickness tablets beforehand, even if you don't get seasick. There's a first time for everything.

Or, if you have a Ginger tablet 30min prior to leaving, that works as well. Also has no side effects.

Was on Mythbusters this morning :p

EDIT: Its Ginger, not garlic, sorry to all those who ran out and purchased garlic tablets on my advice. For refunds, please PM my mum.

except those big fish are spanish mackeral and tuna (average eating and very very s*** eating) and his is a great sized squire (not quite a snapper)

weird to be catching them ( squire) around this time of year! you are holding the best fish by far there!

my last effort fishing!

http://users.bigpond.net.au/existence/jew.jpg
^^got about 6 good sized jewfish between us, all around the 4-6kg mark. they are good eating. that fish there is about.. 70cm long or a bit longer if youre wondering!

">src=http://users.bigpond.net.au/existence/GT.jpg">
^ and way too many of those f***ers. giant trevally, not TOO bad to eat, a complete c*** to fillet and dont taste great anyway. but any fish that is fresh is beautiful.

the next day deficator/defi off these boards speared 3 sweetlip all over 45cm ! was a top effort

Bollocks! Mackeral are great eating fish, so are Mack Tuna. I don't know why Mack Tuna gets such a bad name, I think most people must over-cook it or something. Both are excellent Sashimi fish, The tuna should be eaten *very* rare when cooked.

mack tuna are fun catching coz they fight, same with macky, but poo eating..

f*** even whiting and bream > mack tuna.

Deep sea fishing is f***ed, I have never felt so helpless and disgusting as when I've done that. I imagine it's up there with getting tased bro or being water boarded - except this doesn't last a few seconds.... you're out there with f***heads who WANT to be out there for 8 hours. You spew your guts up the whole time, and the petrol stench from the boat makes it much worse.

Any longer I would have jumped into the water so the coast guard could winch me the f*** out of there.

When I was told i was going deep sea fishing - I thought it would be a f***ing submarine made of glass or some s*** so you could see the whales.... no it's a s***ty old boat that floats on the surface of the water like a regular boat, and looks like it should be full of vietnamese immigrants or something.

There's a video of my experience on youtube (because I was on a camera operator gig at the time) though I'm reluctant to post cos it's basically me just chucking up a lot - can you find it? I guess having my eye glued to the eyepiece of a camera probably didn't help matters.

Yes, all of those except job fish. They're all excellent eating ( except fresh-water barra but I assume you only mean salt ).

You don't cook/eat macky/mack tuna the same way as you do the above fish. They're both excellent sashimi fish ( totally raw, or quickly seared ) with a light splash of soy and some wasabi, They're both excellent eaten rare, and Macky is also good reasonably well cooked ( mack tuna goes too dry ).

just about any fresh ( same day ) salt water fish is superb eating, you just need to prepare it correctly.

Haha, idol's story is the best. It's like he thought it would all little mermaid style under the sea songs with singing aquatic life and it ended up being people smugglers throwing their kids overboard.

well after only been out into the bay fishing on a small boat i finally made my first deep sea fishing trip and it ended up being last week while i was in the maldives.

this was my only catch for the day (yellow fin tuna, around 3-4kg i think) and the local fisher reeled in a dolphin fish with his bare hands and a bit of fishing line. saw some huge sail fish jumpin (apparently they get upto 90kg out there) and a 15m whale, so not all bad.

gotta say the tuna was some of the best fish ive tasted aswell :)
