Topic: Want to get rid of 9x 24port 10/100 switches - Interested?

Thought id post on here before ebay...

9 Nortel Networks Baystack 24port switches
Cascade cables
power cables

8 can be connected via the cascade cables to form a super switch, totaling 192 ports for networking computers. The 9th is a spare. Software can be fully customised via a rs232 cable/port or something.

All were working last i checked. About 2 years ago if bought new was worth $32000-$36000 from cisco, but these were government seconds at the time.

They light up like a xmas tree when run in unison and the fans sound pretty sweet.

Bought to start a regular LAN PARTY back in the day but had other commitments.

So yer... Of any interest to anyone?

Unless these are 10/100/1000, the going price for these secondhand is generally around $100 - we have three at work and two here at home. That you paid $36k for 9 of them speaks either bulls***, or that you got ripped bigtime.

Why would Cisco sell you Nortel gear

Id be keen for 1, 192 ports is erm a little excessive.

If you got 9 people willing to buy 1 each so they all got sold would you split it up then? Thats the way you'll stand to make the most money anyway.

Cisco buyout existing gear to sweeten a new cisco only fit out of a company.

They then hock it off to nubs or trash it.

since you can only network 8 of them, i'll buy the 9th one off you seeing as it's virtually useless

i must say the ninth has a few bent pins in the cascade slot but if you only want one then you probably wouldn't care
