Over the past year my WoW latency has gone from 400-500 to 500-600, so I decided to change ISP and upgrade to a faster plan at the same time.
Going from a 256k ADSL to a 1.5mb ADSL has actually made my life painful due to the huge latency.
None peck in area with no one around 600-800.
In Shat peck 800-2k
Inside BT 1k-2k none combat, 2k-4k+ in combat with DC's.
I've had a toon in Gadgetzan for an hour & been watching a detail latency readout, I cant see any type of pattern & suffer from DC's too.
Vents also is suffering, so I'm wondering if its just not the 'wow latency' prob but also the ISP? Vent has always been solid on the old 256k.

I tested Lowerping on the weekend, BG's, 5m, 10m & 25m into Hyjal, it was good, not perfect but good & the game is now playable. (So I’m going to Lowping for a short term work around)
But am waiting for the Lowerping account creation, while the guild is in BT & i'm a waste of space. So I’ve been looking into the latency.
(oh have already had calls to the new ISP, 1st & 2nd lvl support, they are lodging a fail... but it was all good before changing ISP, which not outstanding it was solid)

It seems like there are 3 parts to the.
1- The ISP (quality of there general service)
2- ACK, which i believe was fixed on the wow client 2.4 patch?
3- SSH tunnelling to isolate coms from service discrimination or w/e

- I'm not sure I will change ISP until i given them a chance & i try to pin point the issues I’m having. Standard ping/trace/dl tests seem ok on the surface.
But has any1 any recommendations?

- Do i still need to adjust the ACk or did Blizzard fix, can any1 confirm?

- I am very interested in setting up my own SSH tunnel, I'd just like some basis points/steps if possible plz?
Do I need to set this up form a Linux box for the SSH, i have a spare machine but my Linux is so very rusty I'd consider it non existent. Can I set this up using a MS Box (XP or Server)?
What other apps are needed?
I'm guessing I'd need to have an account on a US server for the tunnel to connect to? what am I actually looking for in a US provider?

I'm not looking for an in-depth tutorial, Just a point guide/direction so I can take it from there & learn what I have to know along the way.

I have some RL friends that play wow & I wouldn’t mind developing this so it helps more than just myself.
