$1000-$1200 to spend.

To be used in bedroom as media centre (XP+WMP) so needs to be quiet.

Used for graphic design things, Premier/Photoshop etc (needs Dual DVI output for 2560x1600)

Needs to be game freindly (ie. lastest game playable but top line $$$ video cards not necessary)

Priorities are quick data throughput and data accessibility speed.

Cheers.

If you didn't add these two lines, I'd suggest getting an XBox1, modding it & throwing media centre on it :)

needs Dual DVI output for 2560x1600

You could get the Samsung 30" which does that using just one DVI

I know I love mine :)
Might leave you a little bit short for anything else tho :/

If you are serious about games you will be disappointed with anything less than an 8800GT/GTS especially running at a high res like you have stated.

I recently built up a gaming rig for a mate of mine who wanted something for around $1-1.1k for just the box.

Intel ATX E8400 CORE 2 DUO /3.0GHz/6MB/1333FSB/LGA775 $299.00

Patriot 2GB(2x1024MB with Heat Spread) DDR2-800MHz LL EPP 4-4-4@2.2V $89.00

Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3 S775 P35 FSB1333 DDR2 PCIEx16 SATA2 GbLAN RAID ATX $132.00

Western Digital 320G SATAII 7200 rpm HDD $93.00

Antec Sonata III MiniTower Case - Piano BlackW/500W PSU $178.00

Albatron GeForce 8800GT 512MB DDR3 PCIEx16 HDCP 2xDVI-I HDTV $299.00

Total $1090

That is what I came up with. Those are Umart prices BTW and may have changed slightly since I specced it up.
