Took my learners theory test today, and contrary to my families beliefs, studying in a 2008 exam with a 2004 booklet is not an effective way to pass.
So anyway, got the new booklet today. Click me To pass; 9/10 on first 10 questions. 18/20 on next 20 questions. Also, how many times did you take the theory exam? |

i initially did my learners test in 2002. went in, hadn't studied s***, failed it on one obscurely gay question about high beam or something.
then read the book a mate had given me (it was a 2000 book, cos it had all this gst explanation crap on the cover) and it was like 6th hand when i got it. had all the s*** circled in it. passed full marks. i kept track of the book until about 2004 when it was on its 11th owner, then lost track after that. also https://www.service.transport.qld.gov.au/rrtexternalStatic/images/questionimages/Image6.gif I usually take this as a recommendation rather than a warning. |

I got 9/10 and 16/20. :/
I'm tired and I know I misread one question, plus there was 1 or 2 that I didn't know cos I'm too old (ie, something about a level 2 provisional driver. wtf) Basically the only questions I actually got wrong was like distance to park from a bus stop etc. I passed all my tests first go way back in '94 and haven't looked at a rule book since then. |

Its cheaper to get caught driving drunk and speeding without a licence than it is to have one... Get done in style?

I'm pretty sure we never had a learners test back in '78 and in those days you had to be 17. You could get your learners and 6 weeks later go for your license without any requirements for hours to be done/logged for learning. For motorcycles there was no engine capacity limit either. I got my learners in August '78 and had my car license by the end of September and my bike license end of October. Bought a Suzuki GT550 straight off the bat.
Sucks to be going for your license nowadays. |

Passed learners and drivers test first time. Got one mistake one the second past of the written exam, can't remember what it was exactly, but it had something to do with trams/tramlines.. and when I asked the lady at the counter afterwards what it even was she, and two of her workmates also had no idea.

Where must a rider's feet be placed while the motorbike is in motion? i know the answer to that one!... it's c for the test & then either a or b once you have passed the test :P amirite!? of course i'm right. heh, i got one motorcycle question wrong ... the one about riding single file or 2 or 3 in a single lane n the answer is 2 in a single lane... never knew that. i've done it... just didn't know it was legal heh. :P (edit) i got my bike license back in the days where you just lobbed up to the local copshop, talked to the copper for a while, get sent on some errand for him on your bike n when ya get back he gives ya your license :P last edited by demon at 10:01:07 19/Feb/08 |

With a bike license tho, you have to do the normal drivers test first or have your license for 3 years I think.

I think I took two goes to get my learner's. Got my license first time.
One of the best things that happened to me was that I lost my license in the first year of having it due to speeding - nothing huge, just two offences of ~12k's over in 60 zones. I never drove like an absolute idiot, but thinking back on it even that much was reckless. Since then I have become such a safe driver. If you want to speed to make a difference to your travel time, you have to be really really speeding, which is just stupid. |

got my learners in 1989 I think
can't even remember the test other than it was pretty easy if you'd read the rules book took two goes to get my p plates, got failed for doing standing starts in second gear. but it was my boss's dump truck and using first gear unladen was completely pointless. tried to explain that to him but he didn't care, so I had to wait a couple of weeks and do it again |

I failed my first test for driving too slowly, cos my parents told me they like that. That was at Rosalie, next time I went to Zillmere and I got the same tester as the other place. That was 5 or 6 years ago, then a mate of mine was tested just the other day and he got the same guy! Anyone else had him? 'Cal', with the white hair and beard.

You really should avoid posting things like your license number anywhere public unless absolutely necessary. Identity theft is pretty serious and very unfun.

Wow, I failed pretty bad.
If you're merging into the right lane and your car is ahead of the car already travelling in that lane. I'm gonna merge motherf***er. NOT slow down and give way. That would totally f*** up traffic in places like the ICB....oh wait. |

rules exist as a rule, that doesn't mean you should be an a****** and refrain from being courteous on the road
It is also common practice, and recommended by Queensland Transport, that drivers already on the freeway exercise courtesy and allow space for drivers trying to enter the freeway, either by adjusting their speed or changing lanes. |

and i do. where i've got another lane to go to (like on the highway) i move to the right hand lane. i seem to spend most of my time in the right hand lane on the highway anyway.
but in slower surburban traffic, and c***s almost take the front of my falcon off because they think it is somehow their right to push in when their lane ends, thats angerin stuff. last edited by Mr Hardware at 23:13:29 19/Feb/08 |

this thread has inspired me to get my learners, im 21 and ive gone for the test 3 times in the past, last time being over 3 years ago. wasnt very dedicated back then but started reading the booklet on and off over the last couple of weeks and doing the above mentioned practice questions and im actually quite keen on actually learning to drive.
