Looks like Knight Rider (imdb, wiki) has kicked off with a movie-episode in the US today. If it does well it'll be treated as a pilot and they'll then launch a new series.

Initial comments are that it is good.

I heard they're using some land barge looking ford for K.I.T.T. instead of a streamlined, spaceage looking car

You can clearly see the car in this picture, it looks good:

Except that K.I.T.T. was meant to be a sports car capable of going 300mph around a corner and stopping on a dime. No one in their right mind is going to believe a brick on wheels is capable of even half the aerobatic shenanigans the trans am was or hell why not stick with that pos fwd red thing from knight rider 2000 even that would have been more believable.

I guess if all they're going to be doing with it is pushing the bad guys off the road or taking on Goliath again then a land barge might actually be useful.

No No No... BSG has set the precedent.

He has to come into the show as a bad guy.

I think his new evil genius should be a failed lounge singer just for extra evil.

I just watched the pilot. It's actually not as bad as I thought it'd be. The Shelby GT500 looks pretty good as K.I.T.T and it has some cool tricks. I don't really like the main guy though, he just looks like a douche.

It's good to see some shows can still be made for just cheesey entertainment.

yeah the show wasn't that bad, the car wasn't even as bad as i thought and val kilmer worked pretty well as kitt.

i was disappointed to see no bonnet sliding though.

will it become a series though?

Is it just me, or is Charles Grayman a bit too like Doc Emmett?
You know, the other crazy white haired scientist with the futuristic, gadget filled sports car?

he had to pull out because he's being doing voiceover work for GM or some other car company for years and they forced him to stop working on it because the new kitt being a ford would conflict or some bs

As long as K.I.T.T says "I'm ya huckleberry" and there is a villian called Johnny Ringo at some stage, I'm in!

The answer here is clear, get rid of the ford and use a GM car of some sort.

That was a very clever play on words there...

I grew up with Knight Rider. I wanted a trans am. Don't know how I feel about this...
