If you're going to be listening to Chris Isaak, you can't very well not include 'Wicked Game' and 'Baby Did a Bad Bad Thing'.

Also, the inclusion of Creedence Clearwater Revival to your playlist requires 'Have You Ever Seen The Rain.'

^gg demon, oh well, these songs are awesome. asif theyre cheesy! was watching a show on tv the other day saying how all those types of bands have basically created timeless music because my generation now (im 20) dig it so much. look at the normanby. tuffie covers that exact genre of music and it pulls the hugest crowds i think any pub / club would all year round, its basically a mini f***ing festival there every sunday, so much so that they are now tryin to tone it down, no thongs / boardies after 5pm!! GG!!

midda, i got all 3 of those songs, just not on list atm hehe :)

got s***loads of epic ccr as well, they are unreal

hardball, omg mate, paul kelly dont get me started!

dumb things
summer rain
animal
to her door
how to make gravy
from saint kilda to kings cross
careless
ball and chain
deeper water
we started a fire
from little things

i could go ON AND ON and ON.

seriously, when i was a little kid, maybe 9 or 10, my family went on a holiday to frasier island. we were there for 2 weeks i think staying at orchid beach, dad had just got this new pimped hilux with a 3.8 v6 commodore in it and he got a nice stereo in it. in the car he had james reyne greatest hits, and 2 or 3 of paul kellys album (mums all time favorite singer, hands down). they got thrashed all week, way before i had any real musical taste, but those songs were etched into my brain, i liked them so much, and still love them to this day ! (not having heard them for what, 7-8 years?)

i love music!

edit 2: was reading up on joe jackson yesterday on trusty youtube, and apparently he was reall underrated back in the day

anyone who hasn't heard joe jackson, get a couple of his songs, especially real men! top song

heh, many of the above tracks are like the definition of what is cheesy in music.. especially stuff like final countdown @_@ that doesn't mean that they aren't popular or you shouldn't think they are awesome, if you like that sorta thing! music is all about personal tastes. so i'll add my own fave cheesy tracks from the 80s or prior... ;p

The Cult - She Sells Sanctuary
Steppenwolf - Born to be Wild

I can't believe some of the songs listed here were recorded in the late 90s and people consider them "old school" I must be getting old...

Not going to bother listing individual songs but some of the "old school" bands I listen to alot are:

Pink Floyd
The Doors (Sad to see not one doors song listed so far)
Led Zeppelin
Bob Dylan (Like a rolling stone, all along the watch tower (original), knocking on heavens door (original), Tom Brown, The Hurricane)
Cat Stevens
Billy Joel (oh sing us a song!)
Guns and Roses
Metallica (early stuff + Symphony&Metallica)

you're gay.

/insert random college rock from Dad's generation and mine.

I liked Powderfinger for some reason. Considering they come from the worlds biggest country town they put together some interesting vibes. I guess it's the shock factor that did it for me. It'd be like hearing that the guy from NIN is actually Einstein.

Here - toke on this: you know that makes sense >:)

Also, question, does anyone remember the Down on the corner dogs videoclip? I just had a look for it but couldn't find a reference to it anywhere, except a small mention on wikipedia

oh come on man
its probably the best synth out there
apart from ABC
the middle part's a bit average but the big horn blast from 2:47 makes up for it

thanks for the star opinion sfb. i like most of them cos they're not done to death on triple m (unlike crowded house, cold chisel etc)
I know alot of them aren't the artist's best. I don't care, i like the songs.
