My trusty k800i keypad died on weekend. so it's time for a new phone.

I'm looking at an n95 8gb model. link

Anyone used one of these? good/bad? Any other phone suggestions? I'll be buying outright so plan/carrier isn't really a big deal.

Besides being a little on the chunky side, they're good phones.

i have an n95 non-8gb version tho. It's really great. The battery life is s***ty and you need to charge it every day, and it occasionally freezes when using apps but it's still the best phone i've had.

z0r has one of these phones, had it replaced three times in the first month.
Other than that he wants its babies. I would just want a reliable phone, maybe just bad luck.

I have to get a new phone, currently in the forefront is the LG KU990 Viewty.

Has expandable memory, people are having trouble going over 4GB though, so it depends how important the storage is to you.

I was interested in the Viewty as well, but I've read some reviews saying the camera is no where near the quality its specs boast. CNET has a video review of it that I found when searching google for 'iphone alternatives'

I have the Nokia N95-3. It's the latest revision of the N95. They basically took all of the additions to the 8GB version (minus the internal 8GB memory and black colour) and put it on the standard. It's got better battery life than the original too.

Really, if you want to get an N95 (they're great by the way), the things to consider are that even though the 8GB has heaps of internal memory, it doesn't have a memory card slot, whereas the N95-3 does. If you don't think you'll ever want more than 8GB storage on it, then go for the 8GB.

They've fixed the battery life and speed problems in the 8gb model. the battery is 30% larger and they have 'optimised' the phone to use less battery life. plus i'm not a noob that leaves gps/bluetooth/wlan on all day.

8gb should be plenty of memory for me i'd say. I just bought it. Cant wait to get it out of the box and see what it can do.

Thanks guys

I got a n95 8gb and it gets treated like crap (thrown around, dropped at the pub all the time etC)... no problems yet (had it about 4 months so far). No complaints about the phone other than a little large for what I wanted but features are good.

These optimisations and batteries are now in all N95s. The only difference now is that one is black with 8GB internal memory, and the other has expandable memory.

I used to be a Nokia fanboy, don't think I could stand a chuunky Symbian phone after shifting to HTC.

Hope you enjoy the newunit though, looks nice!

It isn't due until Q3 2008 - and that's in europe. I needed a phone yesterday.

infi likes hairy ass, ergo he is giving the X1 a compliment.

I use to like them too, but SE are not my prefered phone. The X1 looks like it might be the trick for my next phone.

Even though it's not actually chunky, the design gives it a chunky feel, it reminds me of that piece of s*** they made for the Matrix 2.

How the f*** is the X1 chunkier than the TyTnII ?

I have recently been given a blackberry and they are awesome phones. Thankfully I don't have too pay for it or the calls so I am happy.

Oh dear... how I hate blackberries... I've had to re-activate about 7 so far this week, unfortunatley I don't have access to the BES, so I have to make a request for every little thing.

This morning one of the partners calls and tells me hes having issues, so while in his office, someone else comes and tells me hes having issues...

I'm going to have f***ing blackberry induced heart attack.
