It's a REALLY cool effect :)

I really want to do it to somebody but I'm extremely wary of putting my hands in somebodies mouth, most people would freak out/get disgusted.

Don't even bother calling it a plant/fake, it's a adaptation of a classic sleight and entirely possible.

Just enjoy magic for magic and stop being so negative.

EDIT: f***ing Angel, that women is a stooge and appears in multiple "random" encounters, it's been pointed out many times.

f***ing idiot, stooges and camera tricks/edits.

I like Blaine though.

Dude it's David Blaine, he doesn't actually know any magic tricks...

BTW, what kind of sleight of hand can convince a person their tooth is missing? lol

You don't want to know the answer, it just ruins the magic :)

Here's one of my favourite magicians (Jean-Pierre Vallarino), amazing sleight of hand and great character.

+ my favourite magic routine ever, by Tommy Wonder, just f***ing mind boggling, his sponge ball routine gives me a boner.

Obviously he had some LSD on his fingers when he put them in her mouth to make her hallucinate and think her tooth was missing. And then he used his portable brainwave transmitter to make all the people around him think they were seeing it too.

I dunno about those videos Chub, seemed kinda boring, I don't see whats so entertaining about an old guy sitting at a table doing coin tricks and card tricks while some retirement home elevator music plays in the background. It might be technically impressive if you're looking at it from the point of view of someone who's admiring his sleight of hand, but as entertainment its lacking.

Who is that awesome japanese magician? The guy who did the thing where he pushes his hand through the fishtank to get the card on the inside? That guy was kickass.

That's Cyril Takayama Khel.

He's a good performer, but when it comes down to it the majority of his tricks are MASSIVELY expensive and custom made, I like everyday sleight of hand as you can tell.

eveyday sleight of hand is still expensive in a certain sense... the secret to most illusions is simply that the magician has gone to a f***load more trouble than you would consider reasonable. Hours and hours and hours of practice, a lot of $$$, or in David Blaine's case - 51 outtakes before he guesses the right card.

you can see the light catch the black caps he places over her teeth. She's in on it, no doubt.

Sleight of hand is avaliable to everyone, tricks that run up into the 10's of thousands for a single reaction is a different league.

It's his niche though, some of his effects I have NO idea about, when you can stump the magical community you're doing something right. Or if you're Criss Angel, you can spend $$$ on camera work and editing and act like a wanker, he doesn't fool anyone with the slighest knowledge of magic. David Blaine is actually pretty decent at card sleights and closeup magic, they just don't make it onto the news like his crazy edurance tests.

You can't go wrong with Michael Ammar, he's just stylish and professional.

Well she has to be in on it, or the guy would need the LSD like Khel said. And if she's in on it, why not get someone that is actually missing a tooth, to make it look real. But if you saw black caps, well maybe that's how it's done, but surely that'd be obvious on HDTV or to onlookers?

CHUB, most of Blaine's tricks you could learn within an hour from a magic store. I'm thinking of the 'street magic' special here where he was biting coins and levitating - pretty s***ty tricks, maybe in the last few months he's done something I haven't heard of, but I think he's turned his attention to stunts now. All of his 'stunts' have been done by other people, and better.

David Blaine rips own heart out

p.s. He did that before the tooth trick, so it's gotta be real.

CHUB i think your being a bit hard on Criss Angel, ive watched a few seasons of his stuff and some of his tricks are pretty amazing, in fact i rate him higher then i rate Blaine.

Some of his tricks cant be camera work when they are done in front of around 1000 people, i dont think he has that many people in on his tricks, and if you see him do some basic sleight of hand like you enjoy he is pretty awesome.

Best thing about him though is when he takes age old tricks and takes them a step further.

He's very sloppy and IF he does take it FURTHER (I'm thinking the card-thru window on the bus or producing the butterfly) it's a setup and uses stooges.
