Will be hard to watch it since most games are on in the wee hours but I'll be watching it from Hotel Home or Hotel Best Mates House until finals time when it'll be a bar of some description.

This week only Australia's game is on at a reasonable hour (ie not during the early morning or or late late at night) and I presume that trend will continue. So Fox Sports 2 is still required and thus places are needed to watch.

How does that work? Counting each station/market/country separately? Because 5000 hours with 24 hours in a day seems to come out at 208+ full days of coverage...

20 teams made up in 4 pools of 5.

each team plays each other team in their pool once.

the top two teams from each pool then go into a elimination quarter final.

QF 1 - Winner pool B v Runner up pool A
QF 2 - Winner pool C v Runner up pool D
QF 3 - Winner pool A v Runner up pool B
QF 4 - Winner pool D v Runner up pool C

The winners of the 4 QF games go into the semi finals.

SF 1 - Winner QF1 v Winner QF2
SF 2 - Winner QF3 v Winner QF4

The winners of the semi's play each other for the Cup.
The losers of the semi's play each other for 3rd place.

Games in Pool phase = 40
Games in Quarter final phase = 4
Games in Semi final phase = 2
Games in Final phase = 2

Total of 48 games, each game is 80 minutes, with the possibility of extra time in the finals phases.

48 x 80 minutes = 3840 minutes = 64 hours of rugby.

So.. where did 5000 hours come from?

Games in Pool phase = 16

Should that be 16 games per pool?
Edit: Wait isn't it 10 games per pool - therefore 40 total pool games?

I can only guess that it's about 50 hours of coverage on average in 100 countries or something like that? That is if the stat is correct.

That's a bit of a surprise win last night to the Argentinas.. Ireland narrowly missed out to the Pumas in May so Pool D might be providing some bloody good football.

suck it france.

argies were too good upfront, continually owned them in the scrums and lineouts.

for the purists, that france / argie game was a cracker.

the pumas had obviously done their home work and worked hard to spoil / slow the ball at every opportunity. they tackled like crazy men and went hard and kept it tight, frustrating the froggies at every turn

the froggies just never got their game together to break the pumas game plan which seemed to me to be bad coaching (i.e. no change of strategy to break it) etc

i wonder how that will affect the draw now? if france goes thru second, who do they meet in the 1/4s / semis assuming the other pools dont have upsets?

If Ireland can knock over France in the group stage that will be just about it for them. That would be a big lift for everyone.

Good on the Pumas, they played really well. France just fell to pieces

I am home sick for a while after having my tonsils out so tonight from 6:30 I watch Cowboys vs. Dogs (go Dogs!), Manly vs. Rabbitohs (go the Bunnies!) Wallabies vs. Japan (duh) and the All Blacks vs. Italy (go Kiwis!).

He missed many offsides and forward passes to start with... even the commentaters were slagging him off.

Awesome night last night, lots of beers + foxtel coverage meant a stupid amount of football was watched. HOWEVER if they continue to play that f***ing circus band music over and over there'll be some smashing of TVs.

You seriously didn't hear it? It was all throughout the games like a brass band playing over and over.

I passed out a few minutes into England v USA game but from the bits I saw on this mornings replay it looked like England was on some shaky ground to start with, they weren't as good as I thought they'd be.

They beat USA 28-10.... joke of a scoreline really should have been at least a 50+ game for England. Credit to the USA though.

Wales vs. Canada will be an important game to watch tonight... Wales being our only competition.

The Puma defensive line basically spent the entire game about 1m offside, and he didn't really officiate the breakdown very well. It's a physical game, but the Argies bashed them illegally quite a bit.
