looks like no NSW horses or jockeys will be riding in this year's melbourne cup :( it also depends when the last horse in qld get rid of the virus as to if qld horses can race.

yeah, although it was good to come back from days off and not have any work to do =)

literally hundreds of millions of $ being lost /day plus all the layoff's in the industry eg. trainers, transporters, race track employees etc. pretty much the worst time of year to happen as well.

ya i knew there was a lot of dosh riding on horse racing (pun intended :P) but what i dont get is why?

i mean u have a horse running around, potentially doped, being ridden by a seriously underweight / undersize speciman of humanity, and all the ppl who cant really afford to do so are out there betting on the outcome of races that are often fixed (apparently :P), and depriving their families of the necessities
