Brisbane video game creator Auran has launched a new game it hopes will rival international bestseller World of Warcraft - and in the process, create an Australian version of Lara Croft.

Glad to see a local dev company getting some media exposure! Has anyone been playing this and can comment on what it's like?

I went to the launch event last Thursday. Biggest bunch of nerds I've ever seen, if it wasn't for the free booze and free food I would've been out of there. The CEO was giving a presentation about the game and started discussing the protagonist and I s*** you not, a group of neckbeards to the left of me cracked up laughing when one of them asked "When's the nude patch coming out?"

Eugh, they even took a quick poll on how many level 60 WoW players there were there, and a good 90% of the hands shot up. I felt dirty.

It was hosted at Family and their events manager sent me an invite.

Fury takes this genre a step further - but instead of focusing on the creation of a vast, complex universe, it instead concentrates on producing in-depth peer combat experience.

Kind of like Guild wars then? Wasn't that game mostly about PvP with a bit of pve for fun?

That's because you don't play wow. If you did, you'd feel Pure.

PURE I TELL YOU!

nah...I'm pretty sure if I played WoW I'd be feeling pretty "suicidal".

You'd be feeling yourself and only yourself that's for sure.

It sounds really good and a refreshing break from the grinding that most MMO's dump you with.
I hope it does well.

it's basically wow without pve.... and more customizable classes that been said they won't even get near wow though

Game looks ok from what I've seen..

Tried to get a programming position there and they offered me a f***ing QA position... lol to them.

A game like this will either do really bad, or really good, being a local company I hope the latter, so next project == more funding and more hirings :)

Is that because you didn't have a lot of experience

I got a phone call asking if i wanted to play. most of the guys playing were CS players i think you'll find. (Immunity who represented aus at WCG were there as well as some local ex team mates of mine).

I found the launch party to be a really fun night. Good to see Boomser there representing us CS old skools :) Really exciting to see a local games studio having a crack at the MMO market, I hope it does well.
