Hello I'm thinking about going to sunshine coast for a weekend in 3 weeks time do any of you guys have advice on resorts or hotels, I don't mind paying a bit but if you know of some surpisingly good deals at places I might overlook also that'd be good to hear about. Also what about nice restaraunts for dinner and bars for afterwards?

Much appreciated.

Hastings St. Everything is nice, and pretentious.

We usually stay here:

Noosa River Retreat

Only a few minutes drive away from Hasting St and good price.

Higly recommend the Season restaurant right on the beach front in Hastings for great lunch or dinner. Had a fantastic lunch there one day, fish and chips, mind you it was the best fish and chips I have ver had. Beautifully prepared, with a nice icy cold Cape Mentelle, listening to the sea and watching the people stroll buy. If you want to go for dinner on a weekend I recommend you book way in advance, its very popular.

I thought Noosa was destroyed recently in a flood or storm or something?? The way they said it on the news made it sound like hastings st wasn't going to be open for years...

I'm going with a chick but I'm not really dating her so I'd rather somewhere busier so I can still hit up bars and clubs. That's why I'm thinking Noosa I'm under the impression it has clubs?

The only good place to stay in Noosa is Little Cove - further up the hill gets cheaper, there are some expensive places closer to the water, the most expensive being that little group of houses over the rocks right on the point.

I believe its just the real estate agents on hastings that rent them, they are all holiday apartment type deals. Easy walking distance to hastings and the beach there and little cove beach is nice for a swim cause its always pretty quiet. Little cove cannot be beaten at noosa. It some how manages to be quiet but still basically right on hastings. (hastings is f***ing s*** so I dont see why that matters :P)

Yes I agree it (Noosa) tis overrated and full of posing Victorians (Dame Edna)...our fav place at the moment is good ol Bribie Island. Stay at the 'Bribie on the Beach' resort, walk 20m to nice child friendly patrolled beach, across the road to the awesome Blue Pacific pub and have a damn fine meal in very nice surroundings.

My mates and I spent a night in Noosa and we hit the surf club and it was f***ing UNREAL. I think it was a Saturday night and the Lions were playing (I think it was there third semi final) and it seemed like we were the only ones from Brisbane. We got treated like we were from "the big smoke" with cheap jugs and every one wanting to get photos of us;)

I'm from noosa, haven't really stayed in any resorts there lol but I'm sure most of them are nice and overpriced, as for clubbing in noosa....lolz.

There is the rolling rock in hastings st, and koala backbackers resort on the hill, and the reef as well on the hill, I think Rolling rock is the only place open past 12 and it's pretty s*** in there from my exp.

I think the koala bar was the best place, but yeah, shuts at 12, even on the weekend! (at least when I went there a year ago or so)

Mooloolaba is the "place" to go, but I even went there last weekend and caught up with some mates from school. So s***, you have to pay to get in to a couple places, including f***ing O malleys. WTF mate.

I guess just been spoilt in brisbane..

as for food, if you like seafood, 'The flying fish' is right across from the surfclub and in between Cafe le Monde and the NZ ice cream place. Really fkn awesome there, had a Seafood platter for 2 :).

I don't know what was so special about the night we were in Noosa... but the surf club was open well past 12.

I usually stay on the river in quamby place. Try Las Rias, Noosa Harbour or Culgoa Point. Its about a 15 minute walk to Hastings. I wouldn't go near the place in winter though.
