ok this guy at work was talking about how his father works at australia post and how they have this service for the employees there where they say what sort of car they are after (auto, hatch back toyota etc) and for how much. they then go out and try to beat that price and find you the best deal.

problem is this service is only for employees and I was wondering if there is a company that does this for the public (of course it wont be free.

Anyone heard of such a company?

kthxbye

I bet the yellow pages would probably have something under CAR BROKERS

hi cindy

Yes, that sort of service is absoultely available. They are generally called Car Brokers. They charge a small fee (usually about 3% of the purchase price) but this also happens to be about the amount they save you. The main net gain is the fact that you don't have to worry.

My old man bought a Feb 06 VZ Commodore Exec with 40k on the clock for $19K through some broker a few months ago. Nice car too, good price.

ps cindy pics pls

Whats funny about a commodore? My old man just has it as a work runaround, nice enough for clients and enough space for gear in the boot etc.

Union Shopper will also do it, if you are in a union and that union has links with the Union Shopper

depends on the car really, cars these days are made to be disposable

they are no more or less 'disposable' than 20 or 25 years ago.
A 12 month old car for $14grand off - sounds like a good deal to me

kays is everything

in the grand scheme of things, 40,000k's is nothing even for a pissy petrol motor
but 40,000k's on an 18 month old common vehicle like a commodore is definitely a price-cutter in the common car market, which was probably pave's point

well yes i see that, but:

I don't know why you save like $3000 for the difference between 20K and 40K on a 12 month old car. As you say, in the grand scheme of things, 40k is nothing even for a petrol motor. I know why it was cheap. the kays explain like $3k or $4k worth of drop, not $14k. Bargain i say.

even if it was a wagon it was still pretty pricey

Also new model of Commonwhore released in August last year would be a big factor in the reduced price.

from my experience, redbook is always off in most cases. It just gives you a SLIGHT indication of how much the car is worth.

what car do you need cindy? i do a similiar thing. pm me with the car you want. i've got a few for sale atm.

orly?
then i've just gone from the majority to the minority.

My parents always taught me to treat other peoples stuff as you treat your own stuff. I flog my cars, i flog rental cars. It all works well.

You might be suprised at how meaningless it is to say "you'd be suprised at [insert random claim here]" and then fail to substantiate the claim

My sister has such a company, www.thepriceshoppers.com.au

they do it all, cars, tvs, fridges etc

and its a free service (well free in that the retailer pays the fee and it comes out of the price somewhere :P)

:)
