A new trailer has been released for Grand Theft Auto 4. Check it out. A bit of the storyline is revealed and you get to see some more of the lush visuals that will be on offer in the next-gen release of one of the most popular gaming brands ever.

HD trailers are too slaw for my PC; I get a much lower framerate than I probably should so it looks a bit slow and jerky. Visuals look pretty awesome though. This'll probably be the game that tempts me into buying a next generation console (ie, Xbox 360).

Trailer looks pretty good though I still haven't really played a GTA game for any extended period of time since the original. GTA + 3DFX was total win back then. The GTA IV Special Edition pack was also shown on Kotaku the other day.

Looks like it might be pretty cool. One thing I noticed with the trailer, it wont play on my 22" monitor but when I move the file to play on my 32" that supports 1080 it plays fine.

Also that special ed pack looks f***ing awesome.

Word on the street (dan can prolly clarify) is that MS drove dumptrucks full of money to Rockstar HQ for phat Xbox bonuses, so I'd guess it's going to not be on any more platforms than it absolutely has to be for a while?

If thats the case, when it does hit PC, you can bet it'll be "Vista Only"

Runs nice on my new puter. That Nvidia 8800GTS was great value.

Looks like it might be a good title to get on the 360.

rockstar are sellouts imo, youd think they would be generous to the platform *pc* that essentially played there games when nobody else would. gta and gta london and gta2 wernt huge sellers from memory.. but that doesnt include them from the fact that there games are awesome either way.

gta was never a story based game but that trailer kind of implied this one was going to be, which isnt necessarily a bad thing just a very big change imo, it may and its a big "may" take away the sandbox feel that the gta series seems todo better then any other "clone". either way im looking forward to the series mature.

ps. glad i have a 360.

For starters, rockstar are definately not sell-outs

Ummm accepting giant wads of cash to go for console exclusivity periods == selling out. not that i care or blame anyone, making money is what companies do. But they're no modern day jeebus.

the fact that they were most likely "forced" into a contract with microsoft doesn't surprise me in the slightest.

It's the way microsoft operates by throwing money at things until they fold, else if they can't claim a favourable contract, they'll do what they did with software developers like RARE and buy them out.

Yeah, I bet it was nothing like when Sony threw huge wads of cash at them to be exclusive to PS2. Microsoft are just pure evil without precedent.

However, it stands that Microsoft is the greater of the two evils simply because they CAN throw more money at companies

So you're saying Microsoft is worth more money than Sony? I'm not entirely sure thats true. I'm not defending exclusivity or anything, I think its dumb in any form, but I don't see the point in singling Microsoft out for it when so many other companies out there are doing the exact same thing.

Also, I doubt sure anyone could force Rockstar into doing anything they didn't want to do, they've got a pretty huge profile these days, I think they'd be the ones calling the shots in any negotiations that went on.

interesting thread about the net worth of Sony vs Microsoft (I got interested after reading Khel's comment and wondered - i would have guessed MS's "net worth" to be massively more than that of Sony).

Also, it's pretty silly to say that only MS throw money at pubs for special treatment and not Sony, regardless of the spin that Sony execs babble there's always stuff like this
Ubisoft, one of the world’s largest video game publishers, announced that Blazing Angels®2: Secret Missions of WWII will launch with exclusive features and gameplay for the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system. Scheduled for a Spring 2007 release, Blazing Angels 2: Secret Missions of WWII is the follow-up to the squadron-based flight combat game Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII.
