This Joker is an entirely different Joker to Nicholson's one. They're playing up the unhinged psychotic murderer angle more than the crazy clown angle.

I doubt it'd be a huge role if he was only needed for a couple of days filming and isn't needed again till August. Hes probably just some politican or mobster or someone who works for Waynetech, like Rutger Hauer's character in the first one.

I'm hoping they don't have multiple villians in this one actually, I think the Joker and setting up Harvey Dent would be enough for this movie.

Those batman movies were made for little immature kiddies with limited attention span.

Take it easy guys, I watched the first Batman the other day and it is still a good movie that can be enjoyed. Some of the Joker's lines in that movie are priceless.

Tim Burton's 2 batman movies are still good, well the second is a little lame in places but still not bad. The batmobile in Burton's first batman is still my favorite batmobile ever.

pfft the old tv show batmobile was the best. so was robin.

Whether you like Katie Holmes or not, I always have a cry when there is actor swapping in the characters:/ Maggie Gyllenhaal is a nice choice though!

Depends which Robin, Dick Grayson no, but Tim Drake or Jason Todd maybe, if they wanted to go that way. Hopefully if they introduce a Robin into this new series though its Dick Grayson just so they can setup a Nightwing spinoff movie. That would be win++

I remember Chris Nolan answering questions about Robin when they were making the first one, he said he wanted to make a few of these before even considering working him in to it.

The calibre of this film will make up my mind about the last one and if I am even interested. I LURVE Christian Bale and will have his babies tomorrow if he asked, but I was a little disapointed by the last film. Having said that I had incredibly high expectations. Glad guttsy Maggie G is replaceing whiny wafery Katie H.

I still think Tim Burtons Batman movies were the best, and then Ill give props to Batman forever because I had a thing for Val Kilmer, and I didnt mind Twofaces character. They were just pure entertainment.

Batman Begins redefined the Dark Knight image of Batman for the cinema. Up until then the entire Batman franchise in terms of the movies were embarassing and one-dimensional. Particularly everything after the first one.
The only reason anyone even rated the first one is because it was a genuine departure from the camp 50s TV show and had some elements of 'darkness', albeit fairly tame ones. However it soon became clear that Batman had been diluted and commodified by Hollywood.
The novelty wore off, and the films became superhero-by-rote.

Batman is a modern gothic horror story, not some live action cartoon.
The darker the better.
Anguish. Guilt. Pain. Suffering. Torture. Menace. Violent retribution.
Then we'll be happy!

That is all.

Also I quite enjoyed the first Tim Burton Batman when it came out in 1989. It was such a huge departure from the tv batman. Jack Nicholsons unhinged joker really made the movie. Like any action movie it has become dated, but when it came out I remember it being absouletly huge. Also I'd turn gay for christian bale ever since American Psycho.

You get the feeling that the 'Joker' was always a 'middle aged' psychotic nutbag not a twenty something dude. Nevertheless, I'm sure Chris Nolan will surprise and produce the goods.

Heathy sure looks the part. Amazing how he's gone from stabbing Jake in the doo-doo hole to taking on the 'Dark Knight'. So props to him and the make-up team.

My biggest gripe about the first one was that Cillian Murphy was way too young to play a doctor, and Katie Holmes looked way too young to be an attorney. They both played the parts really well but still didn't quite look it IMO.

I didn't see any problem with cillian murphy's character, I mean he was only a psychologist, not a REAL doctor :P

Pretty sure he was a psychiatrist, so yeh, he was a real doctor. Undergrad, med school, intern/resident (whatever else they have to do), THEN specialise would take as many years for him to look too young.

One thing better than watching Batman Begins is watching it in 1080p. Total WIN.
