Hey guys,

Anyone who has Digital TV may know that Chan 7 puts these presentations on to demonstrate what Hi Def is like. There's one on right now and has been going for 25mins. Anyone know when they put them on? I.e.. Sundays at 11am? or? Its pretty cool nevertheless.

The loop's been going for years, at least the past 2 when I've had my HD gear. And AFAIK it's only 576p.

Anyone experience problems with 7's sound lately? It will randomly go super quiet while all the other stations are fine.

They put them on whenever a show is on that isn't broadcast in HD.

They crank it out to fill their required hours of HD footage per month, kinda like how AusStereo does "Australian Music Show" at 3-5am to fill their quotas.

Um, Its nothing to do with fulfilling their required HD content.

They just run the loop when they don't have a HD program on.

The other networks just broadcast the SD program on the HD channel.

Also, Channel 7 does show some programs in 720p @ 50fps.

Regular HD is 720p @ 25 or 1080i @ 25.

I've noticed this with Channel 10! I was gonna start a thread about it, but thought no one else would notice. When a new program starts, the sound will be real quiet for about 10sec, and then resume to normal. Happens in Big Brother a fair bit and other programs too on Chan 10.

Yeah I get that with Ch10 too. There was a massive angst thread about it somewhere a few weeks ago, where somebody called up Ch10 about it, and Ch10 said it was impossible and it must be the person's TV.

Now that you've mentioned it, it was 10 and not 7 - my bad.

it happens when your reception drops out

its something to do with set-top-box + power filtering.

You may have noticed that switching lights on/off can cause interference with your TV.

Nah its not a power spike/interference where the sound cuts out for a split second. The problem is the sound being turned down, you can hear it but you have to turn the audio right up.

same as ticman. usually our tv sits on around 25 volume, but sometimes ten needs to be as high as 60-70

Really annoying when you change channel :/

Yes the reason why the shows are so loud and the program isnt because of Dolby Sound. The ads are only in Stereo and the Movies are in Dolby. I have found this happen with all channels as i have THX Receiver. I found it mainly occurs on big movies.. It happen on Channel 9 with Spiderman... Ugly Betty on Ch7..

Ugly Betty is actually really good. I know at first it seems like a Prada ripoff, but the plots are really well written and I hang on the edge of my f***ing seat man!! It's not what you'd expect, people get murdered and involved in conspiracies and s*** all the time, the show has a lot of mystery and smartarse dialogue, Rebecca Romijn (mystique) as a coniving transsexual. It's gold, watch it!

Ive had problems. The sound isnt super low, its just gone. Started like 6.30 or 7 one night and was still like that when I went to bed.

Chanel 10 recently has had really low volume sound when a program starts, or comes back from commercial, for about 10 seconds, and then jumps back up to a normal volume.
