Square Enix have confirmed FFXIII will not be exclusive to the PlayStation 3:

(source) Interesting indeed - So add the next Final Fantasy game to the "not a Playstation exclusive anymore" list along with Metal Gear, Guitar Hero, Tekken and Devil May Cry to name a couple. Doesn't bode that well for Sony, given that those who bought an XB360 as a stopgap until FF13/MGS4 came out now have no reason to buy a new console to play them.promoted/edited forum item

they havent confirmed what consoles (other than the ps3) that it will be on though.

Maybe the source should get their facts right.

Toriyama has merely reaffirmed that, like Final Fantasy VII, the FFXIII brand will be spun into an array of disparate shards, conveniently linked by a popular title.

Not saying it wont go to the 360 or wii, but the website seems to have spun the story around as he never officially said that Final Fantasy XIII itself was going to another console.

wouldnt suprise me if it does go to the 360 microsoft are doing everything they can to get the jap market.

SE is probably also thinking about their sales, if PS3 doesn't have as many Sales as XBox then they would have to assume they would get more game sales with Xbox aswell...

Not that SE needs help with sales with it's massive cult following.

if this does go to xbox at the same time that could be considered a MASSIVE loss to sony, but I don't think it will happen, Sony can't afford it...then again, DMC4 did.

i think most agree the biggest selling point for the ps3 was final fantasy 13 as far as rpgs go. it was the reason i myself was going to buy one. with it no longer being exclusive, and the 360 having so many awesome games coming out in the next year, who would buy a ps3 now?

You have to read the article. It could easily mean the same as FF12 not being an exclusive, as the sequel is coming to the DS. Wouldn't surprise me, as SE have been doing alot of games on the DS lately due to the extremely high installed base.

I never thought the idea of 3rd party companies like SE releasing console exclusive titles was a good idea.

And considering the SC3 flop, i think it's something that less and less people are doing. And thats a good thing, because having to buy a console for one game sux nutz.
