Me and the girlfriend stayed at Q1 (tallest residential tower in the southern hemisphere) about a month ago, and it was really good... Nice rooms, pools etc... only problem is its prohibitively expensive... $240/night

I booked through Lastminute.com.au, but there is also Wotif, I found both had the exact same price.

Just remember that you have to pay before you leave, you can't just pay whenever you feel like it.

What sort of things are you thinking about doing? Let us know what you're interested in and I can make some suggestions. . .

Oh and the Aegean is nice...that's where I stayed for Schoolies many light years ago.

I thought Q1 was cheaper if you stay between 13th and 24th floors.. and a different price for ocean view . I have a friend who went there recently. plus she also got 10% off for being an RACQ member. Will find the brochure.

Q1 has two options... up to lvl35, GC view, and 35+ ocean view...

When i booked, i left it too late and had to settle for the GC view, we ended up only being on lvl 8 which was kinda annoying... but still excellent room.

but yes, $240/night for up to 35... and a semi-ocean view.

I got this reply from my friend. I was having a blonde moment and it wasn't Q1, but this one is also really nice.

Here is the email info:
Hi Sue,

We stayed at 2nd avenue apartments at Burleigh here is the link http://www.2ndavenue.com.au/ It was beautiful. I just checked availability online then I called their toll free number. If you are a racq member you get a 10% discount. You can book online but you need to call to get the discount. When I booked I just asked if we could be up high. She said we wouldn't be lower than the 15th floor but we ended up on the 23rd which was good. Floors 1 to 5 are a little cheaper but not that much its worth paying the extra.

A nice thing to do is head out for breakfast - Northcliffe or Main Beach/Southport Surf Clubs are in great positions and do a cheap but good bacon and eggs. Otherwise Skinny Dippers in Main Beach has awesome food and serves brekky til 12pm. For a nice dinner head to Tedder Ave Main Beach or Surf Pde in Broadbeach where there are lots of decent restaurants to choose from.
